Guest guest
I've been increasing iodine very gradually, because I started getting detox symptoms when I took only about 6 or 12 mg. Around the time I got up to 6 drops of 2% Lugol's (mid April), I was having some possibly hyperthyroid symptoms--chest pains, pounding heart, insomnia. I decreased from 2 1/2 grains desiccated thyroid to 2 1/4. Those symptoms went away. About a week ago, I increased to 7 drops Lugol's. Last night I had some chest pain again. Earlier today I felt some anxiety. I'm wondering whether I need to decrease to 2 grains des. thyroid. I've heard of people being able to decrease or discontinue thyroid med as a result of taking iodine. Is it possible though that this dosage of Lugol's would be enough for me to stop decreasing thyroid med, and this quickly? The more I've learned, the more I wonder whether iodine is the true cause of my thyroid problems. My maternal grandmother had a goiter and died in her 50s, I think my mother has undiagnosed thyroid problems...so maybe I " inherited " an iodine deficiency. AND my parents and all my siblings and I were born in Michigan (the goiter belt). So I'm wondering and hoping that perhaps building up the iodine, if it's what hindering my thyroid, will cause my working to totally work again. By the way, I am also taking Dr. Ron's thyroid glandular and sea vegetables supplement, so that could be partly too what's apparently allowing me to decrease thyroid med. Also, is it normal/common to feel depressed or have swollen feet/ankles from iodine detox? Judy
