Thyroid Suppressing Fruits?

I've been browsing through old messages, and was very surprised to see,

in Message 2069, a long article by a Dr. Debe that lists thyroid

suppressing foods. It was a very long list, and besides the usual

cruciferous vegetables, both apples and grapefruit were listed! These

two fruits are mainstays of my diet, so I was worried enough to google

for more information. I couldn't really find anything except warnings

not to drink/eat these fruits when taking thyroid medications such as

Synthroid.

I am not taking any thyroid medications. Do I still need to avoid these

fruits?

I do not believe so, . We've talked about this a few times on this

list, and the point is to have a varied and healthy diet so that no one

factor dominates. Sometimes people get dogmatic about things that need not

be. Enjoy.

Hello I am new to this group,

I am taking a low dose of Lugal's iodine (suggested by my dr.) for breast cancer prevention.

This is my regime: Minocin for RA, Armour 90 MG,bio- identical hormones, fish oil 4-6 grams day, complex vit & mineral tablet, liver purifiy supplement, LDN.

But what about these thyroid suppressing fruits, also included in my protocol is a tablet of these vegetables, D-Gluate which is to metabolize estrogen's. Am I cancelling out the iodine?

Thank you for any comments,

Carol

Everything in moderation. All food offers health benefits. It is when you over indulge that you have issues. I asked Dr. Brownstein about this at one time and he said you would have to eat more than the average person eats to have an issue.
