Dear friends,

This message Re: CPM Forced to close an HIV prevention proejct

in Kerala.

The incident calls for a wider debate and dialogue between various

actors in the field of HIV / AIDS prevention, and political activists.

Currently there are 40 interventions (covering 95 locations / groups)

across Kerala, addressing various vulnerable communities including

commercial sex workers, men who have sex with men, prison inmates etc.

Partnerships for Sexual Health (PSH) project has been sponsored by the

Department for International Development, India office through the

National AIDS Control Organisation and the Kerala State AIDS Control

Society.

The PANTECH project, as in the case of several other interventions faced

problems from certain groups and hence they have moved their office to a

new location. Recently there was a meting of the general body of the

organisation which has taken a decision to strengthen the advocacy work

and AIDS prevention activities of course, without the help of public and

activists, HIV / AIDS prevention activities can not attain the desired

objectives. There were also a few articles appeared in other news-

papers supporting the interventions and related to unfounded public

suspicion about HIV / AIDS prevention in the state.

And, we need your support.
