I have a friend, who was told 5 years ago that she had a cyst on her thyroid. I

think they only tested the TSH at that time and said her thyroid was ok. She

has also been diagnosed with fibromyalgia since then, and of course, we know

that a lot of times that is connected to a thyroid problem or even a

misdiagnosis of a thyroid problem. She has many thyroid symptoms and I

suggested she pursue it and have the correct thyroid tests done. This is her

latest bloodwork

TSH 1.59

FREE T4 1.2 range 0.93-1.7

FREE T3 3.6 range 2.6-5.2

T3 1.09 range 0.60-1.81

T3 UPTAKE 29.7 range 24-40

THYROGLOBULIN ANTIOBODIES 153 H range <60

TPO 52 range <60

REVERSE T3 323 range 90-350

Since the recent blood work (bec of the size of the nodule in her neck) they

have done a needle biopsy on her thyroid and say there are 5 criteria for

thyroid cancer and the answer is YES to all 5. so the doc (endo who only

prescribes synthroid) feels sure it is thyroid cancer and wants to remove half

of her thyroid to test it to be sure. he also says the cyst/nodule is not small

but large. this doc is saying it was not just a cyst 5 years ago - like it's

probably been cancer for 5 years. all of her problems started 5 years ago and

she is just now putting it all together that it has been her thyroid)

she is getting a 2nd opinion from a more holistic thyroid doc tomorrow to be

sure they recommend the same thing she is being told by the first doc.

just wondering what you would do if you were in that position?

is there any other option but to remove half of her thyroid?

i wonder if it is thyroid cancer - and if it is left as it is - does it spread

as cancer to other parts of the body? (sorry if that is a stupid question, i'm

quessing it only makes sense that it would spread.

any info you can give me would be greatly appreciated!

thank you,
