Testing iodine levels in the blood is not a normal method of testing. Even my endocrinologist who was not alternative didn't test blood levels. It was always 24 hour urine testing before I had each RAI treatment (I had 3) to make sure I had taken in low enough amounts of iodine.

Why was your blood tested for iodine? Have you had any scans recently where contrast dye was used? Do you eat sushi or take kelp?

Iodine is very hard to get in your diet and most supplements have miniscule amounts. Where do you live? US?

High Iodine levels is it dangerous!!!

Hi everyone. I wanted to ask if there is any danger in having a high serum iodine. I can't find any info on high levels only low levels. I don't supp at all, maybe it's the sushi which I eat alot of. I have Hashi's and I think it acts up when I take iodine. I had a conversion problem with my synthroid and I got on T3 to reverse, since my rt3 was high. I since then stopped taking synthroid but would like to start NTH when my iron levels are up to see if I can convert the t4 to t3 without reversing again. I know iodine is important but if I'm having a problem with converting and I'm thyroid resistant then could iodine just accumulate in the blood and cause problems?ThanksChristie

It was a serum iodine of 112 (40-92), zinc 80(60-130) plus other minerals. We

were checking to see if my Kreb cycle is working and how I looked on a cellular

level. Evidently I'm not detoxing correctly, and I need some minerals and amino

acids. Now I do eat alot of sushi and nori (seaweed). I live in Fl. close to the

water. I also have alittle farm and I eat my own chicken eggs and have a small

garden. I probably will have this rechecked. Now I have had an MRI with contrast

but that was 4-5mo ago, so that would be out of my system. Does Celtic sea salt

have alot of iodine or Himalayan salt?

No celtic and himalayan salt do not have large amounts of iodine. Only very trace amounts.

If you are eating a lot of sushi and seaweed that is your answer. That stuff is high in iodine. Be careful of seaweed as it can be loaded with arsenic and other toxic halides.

Thanks, that might explain it. Now, will detoxing help eliminate the excess. I

have access to an infrared sauna, and hyperbaric chamber to use for detoxing?

Sweating is known to decrease iodine levels.

So then would it follow that in this almost 3-digit Oklahoma summertime in which I am doing significant sweating, that more Iodine would need to be taken to just stay even?JudyAnd this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. 17:3

I really don't know. I have just read articles on exercise and sweat. I don't increase my intake.
