Guest guest
Tyrosine is used both by the thyroid to make thyroid hormones and in the function of the nervous system. In the thyroid it combines with iodine to make T4, T3, etc. It also breaks down into l-dopa and dopamine which are involved in nerve function. My thinking is that if iodine levels are increased without tyrosine being increased sufficiently, that what tyrosine that was available from dietary sources would become deficient relative to the combined needs of the thyroid and nervous system. Inadequate tyrosine could lead to hand tremors, twitches, and other nerve malfunctions because more of the available tyrosine would be used up by the increased function of the thyroid gland. > > > From: Baker <vbaker@...> > Subject: Re: Re: A new presentation against high dose of iodine(found this article in curezon > iodine > Date: Saturday, September 18, 2010, 11:14 PM > > > Â > > > > > > Notice in the article they say shaking of hands is a symptom of too much > > iodine; I would bet a dime to a dollar that he wasn't taking enough > > tyrosine, if any at all. > > We already know that what are called " toxic symptoms " of too much iodine > are actually detox symptoms from the body getting rid of the toxic > burden. Guest guest
A thyroid producing the proper amount of thyroid hormones should only need a normal amount of tyrosine. If high iodine caused us to make excess thyroid hormones and need excess tyrosine we would be considered hyperthyroid then because we would be making more thyroid hormones than our body needs. Tyrosine can be produced in the human body to some extent, some of us may not be as good at producing it as others due to genetics or health factors, but not all of us would have to take it just because of high doses of iodine. - > > > > > > From: Baker <vbaker@> > > Subject: Re: Re: A new presentation against high dose of iodine(found this article in curezon > > iodine > > Date: Saturday, September 18, 2010, 11:14 PM > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > > Notice in the article they say shaking of hands is a symptom of too much > > > iodine; I would bet a dime to a dollar that he wasn't taking enough > > > tyrosine, if any at all. > > > > We already know that what are called " toxic symptoms " of too much iodine > > are actually detox symptoms from the body getting rid of the toxic > > burden. Guest guest
I'm not sure, I was just saying that high doses of iodine shouldn't really cause us to need more tyrosine than the average person with healthy thyroid function. I do believe some benefit from supplementing tyrosine, but it doesn't make sense to need more than the average person just because you are supplementing with iodine. Some people may need more though just because their body isn't naturally producing tyrosine like it should be able to. - > > > > > > > > > From: Baker <vbaker@> > > > Subject: Re: Re: A new presentation against high dose of > >iodine(found this article in curezon > > > iodine > > > Date: Saturday, September 18, 2010, 11:14 PM > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Notice in the article they say shaking of hands is a symptom of too much > > > > iodine; I would bet a dime to a dollar that he wasn't taking enough > > > > tyrosine, if any at all. > > > > > > We already know that what are called " toxic symptoms " of too much iodine > > > are actually detox symptoms from the body getting rid of the toxic > > > burden. Guest guest
I'm very interested in what you're saying about the necessity of tyrosine. I'm wondering why it is not considered an iodine companion supplement if it's so important to the development of thyroid hormones. Are we depleting our body's supply of tyrosine by taking large doses of iodine? Do you have some references that you could share? Guest guest
Thyroid hormone is composed of Tyrosine AND Iodine. T4 is 1 atom of Tyrosine and 3 atoms of Iodine. T3 is 1 atom of Tyrosine and 3 atoms of Iodine. This is the relationship as far as composition goes which may help you in your query. Guest guest
I put a good gelatin in my smoothy every morning. Getting one's amino acids is nutrition 101, whether one takes iodine or not. I don't take isolated amino acids. There are three good brands, Great Lakes Gelatin, NOW beef gelatin and Jensen's gelatin. The gelatins in the store aren't good. Of course, one can make their own gelatin.
