thyroid nodules and osteoporosis

Well I went to my GP today to review the thyroid scan. I have 2 thyroid

nodules- the largest is about 7 mm. I discussed all my thyroid symptoms with

her but she is not convinced- even when I told her my morning temps are 35.1-

35.4 (sorry that's celsius). My TSH was 1.7 which was totally fine (that's a

Canadian level). She did agree to repeat the TSH and check the T3,T4 and for

antibodies. I didn't think to not take my Iodoral and thyroid glandular this

AM- sure hope they don't mess up the results.

Also got the results of my bone density. Am now showing definite osteoporosis

in my spine - most likely thanks to Prednisone. I am not keen at all on going

on Fosamax but if I keep refusing treatments (as I do for the autoimmune

disorder) she may just give up on me. Also she said that even if I was showing

abnormal results in the thyroid panel she would not want to put me on thyroid

meds as she said they can also cause osteoporosis. Now when I read Dr Derry's

site he said that is only true if the iodine levels are low. (And of course I am

trying to address that with the Iodoral but my doc doesn't know that.)

I am a tad frustrated right now!!

Kathy
