Guest guest
Lugol's is a formula of Iodine & Potassium Iodide. It is liquid. Iodoral is the pill form of the Lugol's formula. Yes I believe this is a better form as the different glands and mucosal linings need the different forms. I don't know anything about Thyactin. Lugol's formula is over 100 years old. Steph Confused About Type of Iodine to Use Could someone please explain to me why lugol's or iodoral, which I gather both have a mixture of organic iodine and potassium iodide, are better than just straight organic iodine such as Thyactin? Should Thyactin still work? Thanks,

Guest guest
Hi again, , This is my reasoning. Arsenic is toxic at low levels and has been found in seaweed. Not to say this would actually be the case regarding Thyactin--but who knows? With the sea getting polluted and tumors being found on turtles and other ocean creatures my thinking is -why chance it. Im sick enough and don't need arsenic and other toxins further worsening me. If you are in the US one of the gals who posts here and on another group Im in, tried that Ebay seller of Lugol's for $8.oo a bottle. You may want to that first and see how it goes. The Iodoral is more expensive but was easier for me to get since I didnt then know about the ebay seller. Heres a read by Dr Brownstein re Iodine/Iodide as to his clinical experience. http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-09/IOD_09.htm and a pdf read on various Iodine uses http://www.jcrows.com/JoFahey_IodineRemediesSecretsFromTheSea.pdf Best of luck to you, Val M. PS And here is the link to the Thyactin label I failed to post initially. Ill blame it on " brain fog " lol. http://www.tmprofessionalcare.com/ > > Are the Fucus Vesiculosus and Spongia Tosts problems? Or the deonized > water and glycerin? Guest guest
Hi , Some reading on Iodine/Pregnancy " The literature search revealed that 60 million mainland Japanese consume a daily average of 13.8 mg of elemental iodine, and they are one of the healthiest nations based on overall well being and cancer statistics.7 Japanese women do not stop consuming iodine-rich foods during pregnancy, and Japanese fetuses are exposed to maternal peripheral levels of iodide at concentrations of 10-5M to 10-6M. Either the Japanese are mutants capable of surviving on toxic levels of iodine or we have been grossly deceived. The human body needs at least 100 times the RDA, which was established very recently in 1980 and confirmed in 1989!! " Full article at http://www.healthsalon.org/274/iodine-dr-guy-e-abraham-md/ Prenatal vitamins not containing enough iodine: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/29396053/ http://thecontrarianmom.com/2009/03/27/is-iodine-iodoral-safe-while-breastfeedin\ g/ Ferritin (stored iron) levels should be at least 60 for Desiccated Thyroid. 70-90 would be better. I use Gentle Iron by Solgar which is chelated. Others have had good luck with Blue Bonnet Chelated Iron. Adrenals -- I used Ashwagandha for my adrenals but never had them tested so Im not really an adrenal expert. I started on 12.5 Iodoral with no bad symptoms, kept increasing and am now up to 100. Start slow and keep track of any symptoms appearing. I have never had any detox symptoms so I am lucky. I am not gluten free but I do take many supplements including the companion nutrients. Val M. > Thank-you very much for all the helpful advice. Can I please clarify, do I need to address the adrenal issues before > starting iodine, or is it only before starting dessicated thyroid that I need to do this? > Also, why are there warnings about not taking iodine when pregnant? > Are these to do with the detox that may occur? > Thanks again, > >
