Taking iodine caused thyroid problems and menopause

I was taking 12 mg of iodoral a day for around 3 1/2 months and then started

having horrible night sweats. I am 47 and was having regular periods prior to

this. My period is now 2 months late. So I had bloodwork done and my thyroid

is now overactive...and was normal prior to this. (I was taking the iodine for

a slightly enlarged thyroid as per my doctor). My hormone levels also show that

I'm in the beginning stages of menopause.

Anyone have any thoughts or had this happen?

I do want to say that I was excited to be taking the iodine originally because

it was making a difference in my sleep (I was sleeping better) and found I had

more energy and a clearer head.
