However, I never insisted my kids clean their plates. That only makes for overweight adults. I always told them " When you are full, stop eating. " Eating slowly helps as well. Must have worked because none of my adult children, except (27, DS) are overweight. Folks with DS and a hypothyroidism have a problem no matter what you do. is taking the weight off, though. I did insist on the three bites and 9 times out of 10, the kid learned to like whatever. granny --- " Setting a good example for your children takes all the fun out of middle age. Guest guest
Granny you like liver and lima beans so that makes the rest of us picky eaters. I can't stand liver and lima beans are iffy. I have trouble with raw tomatoes. I love one small bite, the second one isn't too bad, but forget a third. However, it turns out I am allergic to them. I can eat tomatoes cooked, but not raw. I like a BLT but it has to be light on the tomatoes and I don't feel good afterwards if I eat too much . So there is that to consider too. Guest guest
My son eats frozen vegtables also. When I am cooking he askes for them. Mostly peas and beans. He also eats vegtables at the meal though. Guest guest
Hello Dr Furman: What is your opinion about High Protein Low carbohydrate diet to lose weight in a CLL 53 years old patient 1 year after FCR ? Thanks Purnima Re: slightly anemic - Trudy I think that it is important to dispell once and for all the idea that eating sugar feeds cancer cells. The body, more or less, converts everything into what it needs, including sugar. If one were to stop eating sugar, your liver would just make the sugar from proteins and fatty acids. The key to remember with regard to cancer and nutrition is eating well. Nothing more Rick Furman, MD > > > > Trudy, > > I am on watch and wait too. My red and white count is getting down now. I have this CLL/SLL since the end of 1996 or before and wouldn't go to the doctor to find out what it was until my GP told me I needed a biopsy. That was in 2000. I finally started chemo in 2002 witg FR and a steroid (don't know which one) and continued treatment until the end. I have been good until last blood CBC but I still am on W & W. It has been a solid eight years in remission. I will be getting the same treatment because I did so well on the FR. I am now 71 years old and am feeling a little tired. > > My Onc told me not to worry there are a lot of new treatments out there. This cancer seems to be growing amongst us seniors. Guest guest
I believe the most important means to loose weight is to take in fewer calories than you consume. Obviously this is easier said than done. Exercise and portion control are probably the most important aspects of this. Guest guest
I have lost 110 lbs over the past year primarily through walking and a no sugar, low fat and junk food free diet. My wbc has gone from 127K to 34K and is still falling. Also my borderline Type II diabetes is no longer an issue. If I can do it, anyone can. ~chris CLL CANADA > > > > > > > > > > > > Trudy, > > > > > > I am on watch and wait too. My red and white count is > > getting down now. Guest guest
Congratulations, Chris. Losing 110 pound must have taken some some doing. Hats off for your will power. It's wonderful that the diet and weight loss knocked down your wbc from 127K to 34K, Who says diet, exercise and weight loss don't matter in CLL! Andy Gach PS: Maybe my modest 12 lb weight loss helped to make my RCD tx a success. .. Guest guest
I'm a new member. I didn't start the iodine protocol yet even if I know that I need it. I've got CFS for many years and fibromyalgia. I will buy the book " Iodine, Why you need it- Why you can't live without it " and get to know why iodine is so important. I read many e-mails and to be frankly, I don't understand many terms links to the thyroid function. As I read your e-mails, many of you know pretty well how the thyroid works. For the moment, I don't.  Also I'd like to know if anyone know a book about nutrition and some food which to be avoided for the thyroid. Thanks. Guest guest
you must look at goitrogen list.these are the food that is to avoid with thyroid.thyroid is very much related to fibromylalgia. if you have fibro-pains you can look also at low dose naltrexone http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2891387/ On Fri, Dec 31, 2010 at 5:40 PM, Girard <girardpaul96@...> wrote:  I'm a new member. I didn't start the iodine protocol yet even if I know that I need it.
