Geo clustering of thyroid conditions

Debbie Ann mentioned Three Mile Island a few posts back. Got me thinking re.

some of my interests.

Has anyone come across any studies, surveys, or statistics of geographic

clustering of various thyroid or other disease conditions?

In a similar vein, has anyone come across data on temporal relationships between

radiation, or chemical, exposure and thyroid malfunction. Two years ago this

Feb. 14 I was diagnosed with Stage IV Thyroid (on the liver, still doing fine,

no medical interventions). I was shocked when the two case team oncologists

told me that there is an extremely high probably that the thyroid cancer is a

directly result of radiotherapy treatment (for a totally different cancer) that

I received at age 6 some 52 years earlier. Neither doctor was aware that the

other had mentioned the correlation. I sensed that the only thing that

impressed them about my otherwise run of the mill just another thyroid was that

I was still alive. The norm is thyroid malfunction twenty to thirty years after

radiotherapy.
