Guest guest
I know this is off-topic but I hope somebody can point me in the right direction. My brother is 44 and lives in CA. For the last several years (10? 20?) he's been plagued by a variety of digestive problems. 4 or 5 years ago, he was diagnosed withsevere IBS and colitis. He's been to specialists and has tried diet after diet and medication after medication and is still in pain and missing a lot of wrk (he's already used all his sick days and vacation trime this year). I wantr to point him in the drection of sound alternative treatments and alternative medicine but don't know where to find this information. If you do, please contact me off-list with the information so we don't clog up te list with OT stuff. My email is prov31mom23@.... Guest guest
Has your brother tried Iodine yet? I ask because I too suffered from IBS and Ulcerative Colitis for many years. I refused the medications and opted to try diet changes and multiple supplements with little success. I had finally come to a point where I was in so much pain and so run down and my quality of life was being affected that I was going to try the medications. Fortunately, I was introduced to Iodine and Dr. brownsteins video and it just made perfect sense. I decided to try Iodine before starting the medications and I am so grateful I did. Within two months of starting the Iodine I had a horrible flair of colitis symptoms (worse than ever)and then it all went away within a week. The bleeding stopped, all pain disappeared and my intestines are functioning normally for the first time ever in my life. I have been on iodine 8 months now and I am still symptom free and have never felt so good. I don't know if it will help your brother also but sure wouldn't hurt to try. > > From: Pamela <prov31mom23@...> > Subject: OT Ccolitis and IBS info needed > iodine > Date: Thursday, 24 March, 2011, 6:52 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > I know this is off-topic but I hope somebody can point me in the right direction. Guest guest
Another plug for iodine for gut troubles... I also suffered terribly with IBS and 'unexplained' inflamed lesions in the colon for years. All the docs just wanted to toss pills at me or suggest the particular weird pet diet one of them handed to EVERY patient (before testing or even interviewing) no matter what their ailments. None of that did any good. As usual, the docs saw 'a gut in trouble' and not a whole patient with something bigger happening and manifesting mainly at the time as intolerable colotis! I wish I had known about iodine years ago. I admit I just started suppelementing with iodine, but it seems to be (at least one of) the missing piece(s) for me... my gut is happier than it has been in decades. Before the iodine I did determine (through self-experimentation) that I do not tolerate dairy and gluten might also be an issue, and thus I modified my diet and experienced a precariously calmed gut, still easily tipped out of balance and plunged into flares ---it took 2.5 yrs of diligent work to get there from the point of being bed/toilet ridden and starving half to death. BTW, L-glutamine really helps soothe my gut when it gets that raw feeling. Where my gut is concerned, no positive changes were as abrupt and obvious as those with the iodine, but do realize some healing work had been done prior and might have made the positive iodine gut results come faster. I still can't eat willy nilly, but I can have a life and plan things without wondering if my gut will make me miserable or if I will have to cancel those plans. I am still waiting for the fatigue problem to go away (hypothyroid wiih adrenal insufficiency sucks) and the intermitent waves of detox (which happily have NOT been gut related) to lessen, but the gut is happy now and that makes me happy! I hope your brother can find something that works for him, and maybe iodine will be part of it. Do take the companion nutrients, as detox is no joke. > > > > From: Pamela <prov31mom23@> > > Subject: OT Ccolitis and IBS info needed > > iodine > > Date: Thursday, 24 March, 2011, 6:52 AM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Â > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I know this is off-topic but I hope somebody can point me in the right direction.
