Dear Forum members,

Thanks for the responses i received on the article , " i feel

humiliated " and i will soon explain problems(social) i face being a

person with hiv Thank you very much

I feel the harassmaent done to individuals with hiv/AIDS varies from

state to state,in my state(andhra pradesh) it is very open.

I think the policy of humilliation on people with

HIV/AIDS is deliberately carried on by the government agencies in

association with the community. Hence central government along

with " NACO " has to take steps on issues of human rights for the

indviduals living with hiv/aids and protect them from inhuman elements

As i have already mentioned i want to volunteer for any aids

organisations

Christi,

It's funny how you forget things until someone reminds you of them.

We also had nose problems exactly one year ago after my son had just

started pred. and mtx. I'd say it went on for 3-4 months. We kept

mentioning it to the rheumy and the pediatrician and the only

suggestions we got were to add a humidifier to his room at night and

lubricate it and use the salt water nasal spray. Basically, treat

the sypmtoms without knowing the cause. He was always dry and

stuffy, but didn't have a cold. My son Hunter also has some

seasonal allergies but had never experienced anything like this at

this time of year. Personally, I attributed it to the pred. He

quickly got the Cushings Syndrome, and with everything being so

puffed up, I figure it affected his nasal passages also. Just my

gut feeling. We had all kinds of this really strange stuff

happpening all at once when he started the pred. and mtx., like

unbelievably swollen testicles, and major constipation.

I hope things get better quickly for Logan.

Hi Christi, my daughter Mackenzie (she is 6) started complaining

about her nose several months ago. It seemed she was always messing

with it and constantly blowing it, she would do it so much it would

bleed. We asked all the docs about it and no one could tell us

anything. Then one day she blew her nose and (I am trying to figure

out how to say this without sounding too gross :) ) there was what

looked like cartilege in the tissue. To make a long story short,

she now has a perforated septum. No one can tell me why or what

caused it. It could have been from the massive amounts of steroids

she received around the same time it happened. Another thing I

guess I don't know is that if any of the docs could have figured out

what was going on, if they could have stopped it from happening.

Don't know if this helps or not, but maybe they can keep a closer

eye it.

Hi Christi,

The pred alone can make anyone severely sensative, they call it steroid

sychosis(sp).

It very well could be the allergies driving him crazy.Something to consider

and probably has nothing to do with Logan or it would be quite obvious.Does it

look like the cartlidge is his nose is swollen. The reason I ask is because

systemic can effect anything and everything. My son would get severe

swelling of his ears,it would leave the lower lobe alone but the cartlidge would

swell and make his ears stick way out and turn red. When I looked it up it was

called relapsing polychondritis and the ear and nose cartlidge was the first

things to be effected.

Most likely it's just minor, normal iritation to allergies but the pred is

makeing him more sensative to his feelings.

Hugs
