Were you taking the companion nutrients? magnesium, selenium, vitamin C, Celtic salt? Have you tried Lugols solution, in liquid form or Iodoral tablets? Kathleen

iodine intolerance

i still cannot take iodine. even with the salt loading. i tried taking 1/2 tablet of prolamine ( 1 and 1/2 mg of iodine) twice a day and by the second day, i was in bed the whole day. could not move my head due to swelling in my right frontal sinus. every time. about to give up.

My guess is that you are just very toxic. If I were in your shoes I would drop the iodine for a while and work hard on doing some full body cleanses. Start with your liver and add other things. There are some good juice / fasting cleanses that last for 3 days or more. There are formal cleansing products like Metagenics Ultra Clear Plus which is 28 days and the one that I did - eliminating foods and taking the cleansing product. I don't remember why you were trying to take iodine (health condition) but that may give me a clue as to what you are dealing with.

just my skin. everything i have tried to take, iodine, dessicated thyroid, dhea,

in time they all flare my sinuses and facial pain ( i had 9 sinus surgeries when

i was young and stupid). i cannot seem to tolerate anything. barry

IF you cannot tolerate iodine then you need to find out why. I have found in all the cases where people have been willing to look deeper that it is high toxicity, liver pathway issues, detox pathways in general overloaded or adrenals that are fatigued. There are a few who threw up their hands and said they could not take it - period. But to my knowledge never really worked on the other aspects and tried again.

Gosh Gracia. You have been a blessing in my life and have helped me so much and the only thing I can suggest is try laying off the salt and see if that lowers BP. Also can you think of anyone in your family with high blood pressure or heat problems? I'm at a loss and I'm only making suggestions. I know pain raises BP but you don;t say if you suffer from any kind of pain.May I suggest googling what cause high blood pressure and maybe read through that. That is what I'm going to do now. To see if I can give you anymore more suggestions. Sorry, I'm not a big help but I want to try for you.Relax is one thing I can suggest. Also do you know about EFT tapping? I'm wondering if your blood pressure would benefit from this. I was able to discontinue many of my meds since someone from the LDN group

suggested this technique to me for sleep. I've slept 3 nights now about 5 hours which is better than 2 hours or none at all so I do know that it is effective and pretty easy to understand and use on yourself.Hang in there. How interesting! I had just read on drugs.com under " interactions " that lithium

and iodine " May have synergistic hypothyroid activity; may result in

hypothyroidism. " (now there's a familiar caution...)

But your post had me curious and a quick search for lithium and iodine brought

up this result where it talks about the combination of lithium and radioactive

iodine being used for thyroid cancer:

http://medicalcenter.osu.edu/PatientEd/Materials/PDFDocs/dis-cond/cancer/lithium\

-iodine-therapy.pdf.

Certainly not suggesting anyone use radioactive iodine!! ... just an

observation about the role of lithium combined with iodine, how it is described

to help iodine stay present in the body longer.

Dr. has an excellent write up about Lithium Orotate on his

website for those wanting more information about this mineral.

Thyroid disease in itself cause high blood pressure Gracia. I only had to read the first paragraph to find that out. Hypertension and just plain old stress. Maybe you are stressing over the thyroid causing the high BP.All I can say is to relax and please check out EFT tapping on line. It'll give you the points on the body where you can start tapping and you don;t need to buy anything for this. Many web site will try to sell you something. Don't fall for it. For high BP.. I have used grape seed extract for years. It seems to relax me.

There is a new one now called Mega Natural BP that has apparently been

formulated to increase the BP controlling elements of grape seed extract. I just

ordered it from Swanson's. Looking forward to trying the new formulation.

Hope this helps,

Gracie,

You need potassium. I would eat tablespoons of raw honey, starting now, until

you can't stand it. Taking apple cider vinegar with that will help your body

assimilate the vitamins and minerals better. This is a Dr. Jarvis remedy.

I have been using Transdermal Magnesium sublingually, like someone posted here

and I find it to be an efficient way to up my mg.

Synthetic potassium isn't an option, needs to be natural.

Very interesting ! I vary the honey I use with ACV . Organic Buckwheat is very

special and relaxes me considerably. High in minerals says the beekeeper.

Hello ,

I also work with my mind and notice how my biochemistry influences my

intellectual abilities. I have never had any good long term results with ginkgo,

however, so far vinpocetine has been better.

Can lithium can be obtained from food sources ? And will it give results

similar to taking it as a supp ?

I am after clarity of thought and ability to synthesize information. Vitamin

D, I must say, seems to be helping. I have started slowly with painting tincture

of iodine on my foot 3 days on / 3 days off... that is strangely very powerful.

Since my thyroid meds have been cut in half, I will be taking another blood test

shortly. Normally I only undergo bloods once a year. Should be interesting. This

time the iodine/iodide which will factor in may influence the results.
