Upper Respiratory and Oral Mucus Defenses:

Stomach mucosa captures iodine from blood and secretes it into stomach

cavities. Free iodine in the stomach kills bacteria and viruses and it

deactivates biological and chemical toxins. Dead viruses are still

immunologically competent and thus antibodies can be made to dead viruses

Overall, we see there is a complex integrated system for protecting humans

from viral or bacterial

invasions via oral, nasal, and gastrointestinal routes. This system depends

on taking adequate iodine orally... "

To me, Dr. Derry is a Canadian hero. I lived in BC most of my life. He lost

his license (temporarily?) in 2002 for not following the guidelines of the

College of Physicians & Surgeons of British Columbia.

" ... temporarily suspended the medical licence of Dr. Derry, a

, British Columbia physician who has successfully treated about two

thousand thyroid patients. His success was often after specialists had been

unable to help these patients...Dr. Derry had provided the investigating

committee with over a dozen reputable references showing that thyroid

extract or desiccated thyroid, as well as the addition of T3 to T4, is as

good as or better than thyroxine (T4). He also listed problems with

Synthroid...Dr. VanAndel, the College registrar, stated that " Testimonials

do not make guidelines. " " Although both the TSH and the patient's reports

should be considered, the TSH test is in most cases the better arbiter of

euthyroidism... "
