Guest guest
Hi Pamela,I take lugol's solution in water with food. I built up to 10 drops twice a day. Each person is different, so take notice of what happens as you increase dosage to something that works for you.I saw that survey about detox symptoms, but did not keep a diary so could not remember where I began to have detox symptoms. But I did have detox symptoms, namely night sweats. I did not at first understand the principle of salt loading so I just soldiered on. Eventually, the symptoms let up. But I used unrefined salt in my foods already, having given up the table salt.Regards, BastidaFrom: Pamela <prov31mom23@...>Subject: Lugol's ??iodine Date: Monday, February 1, 2010, 11:28 AM Lugol's arrived today. I'm using it for my family because the Iodoral is just too costly for our family at the moment. I prefer the convenience of Iodoral but convenience isn't the main priority. So how do we take this? In juice? Water? For people who are stubborn and complain, can I put it in gel caps and have them swallow it like that? Can I do the salt in gel caps? Thank you, Pamela
Guest guest
Hi Pamela, I would not put liquid iodine in a gelcap and ingest it. The capsule would dissolve and you might have a big chunk of undiluted iodine in the stomach for a few seconds (minutes, i have no idea) but does seem like it might sit in one area too long and cause irritation. Other people have done the salt that way, but not something I would do either for the same reason (could just be paranoid on that one!). Eating the salt thruout the day has been a pretty easy addition to the routine. wont eat the salt so i add it to his water and salt the heck outta his food, which he eats. I put my iodine in water. Chased with more water. And at least 2 hours before or after C . Cheryl > > Lugol's arrived today. I'm using it for my family because the Iodoral is just too costly for our family at the moment. Guest guest
Pamela, when I take Lugol's I put it in non-citrus juice like pomegranate, which has such a strong complex taste there is no hint of the iodine. I find just a shot glass of juice worked for me. Oh-- I have pomegranate-only juice, not a mixture with other fruit juices. Another option would be the fruit juice concentrates, you can buy pomegranate, blueberry, cherry and others. Then you could make the concentrate just the perfect strength to hide the taste, in tiny amounts for economical use. -- At 11:28 AM 2/1/2010, you wrote: >Lugol's arrived today. Guest guest
I've never heard this theory before. If that were the case, then why are gelcaps used for all kinds of meds? I put oil of oregano in gelcaps (and that stuff can burn like crazy!) and have never had a problem. In fact, I've noticed when I drink the oil of oregano in water, I end up burping it throughout the day. When I use a gelcap, I haven't noticed that problem. Is it recommended to take it on a full or empty stomach? Taking it on a full stomach could decrease any irritation. If you take it in water or juice, why wouldn't swallowing a capsule with water or juice result in the same dilution once the cap dissolves? I am just trying to figure the most realistic way to force the stuff down my family's throats! They are all reluctant to do this but are doing it. I figured that anything I can do to make it easier makes them more willing and that's a good thing. For myself, I have no trouble putting it in water or juice. Can I add other things I am taking in liquids at the same time? Like echinacea/goldenseal? Pamela > > I would not put liquid iodine in a gelcap and ingest it. Guest guest
Pamela - there are some that are putting Lugol's in a gel cap and it is working fine. Steph Re: Lugol's ?? Guest guest
I put my salt in caps and follow with plenty of water and it works great I have a hard time drinking anything that I don't like the taste of and I know I won't be consistent with it that way. I take 1/2 my salt caps at the same time as my iodoral. Maybe you could try putting the lugol's into a cap of salt and see what happens. I used to add oregano oil into a cap of something else that was powder can't recall anymore what it was, but that worked great too. Who knows if it is the best or most perfect delivery system but if the other option is that the person won't take it at all, then we have to do whatever works. Engtovo Re: Lugol's ?? Guest guest
Interesting.....Where do you purchase gel caps and how do you inject Lugol's into the caps? > > Pamela - there are some that are putting Lugol's in a gel cap and it is working fine. > > Steph > For myself, I have no trouble putting it in water or juice. Guest guest
You can buy them in most health food stores. Pharmacies might sell them if you ask. They are the typical transparent two piece capsule that has one side slide into the other. You just separate the two parts, drop the iodine or whatever you are using into one side, and then put them back together. Guest guest
I have tried putting the Lugol's in capsules....its soooooo messy and frankly not worth the time. Better to put the lugols drops in juice or water and drink it down. even better is to buy Iodoral tablets. Re: Lugol's ?? You can buy them in most health food stores. Guest guest
It’s worth the time if it’s the only way to get you family to take it without additional stress (they’re already fed up with all the supplements I’m giving them). It’s also worth it if your husband was laid off from his job in July and is still out of work and Iodoral for five people is just too expensive. Guest guest
I was speaking for myself, I made a mess of it and wasted lots of the Lugol's. If its easy for you to do, that’s great. I meant no ill will with my suggestion. Wishing you and your family the best. RE: Re: Lugol's ?? Guest guest
A good place to find empty caps is on eBay, I bought my last 1000 V caps there. They were 11.99 + shipping which was a very nice deal considering they can be priced as high as 30.00 or so for 1000 and the veggie caps generally cost a tad more than the regular gel caps.. You can find them on Amazon too, and several other online stores. I also have a small capsule filler, that I bought on eBay at the same time, that makes 25 capsules at a time, which is definitely faster than doing them one by one. The number of capsules a filler holds depends on the manufacturer and the size of the caps you want to use:) Just pull the caps apart, they pull apart easily, and use the dropper to put drops in one half of the cap and then put the cap back together again. The cap locks together and after you fill them and snap them together they're harder to pull apart. Or you can get a capsule filler and do up to 50 caps at a time, the fillers generally only fill one size capsule so if you buy a capsule filler make sure your filler takes the size capsule you're getting:). I don't know how well Lugol's would do in caps though. One at a time would do OK I reckon, but you'd probably have to experiment to see how well several caps would store. I find it much more economical to buy whatever I can in bulk, when I can find it, and make my own caps than to buy prefilled caps. I just save my empty supplement bottles, or buy pint size canning/mason jars with lids:), label it for whatever I'm putting in it. Really though any food grade non leaching container will do. Although I wouldn't recommend coffee cans or aluminum containers, I do prefer glass. Just make sure you get the right size caps, they come in several sizes from 1 - 000 and they hold different amounts of ingredients.
