Guest guest
I take iodine by taking it in granulated kelp every day, which is 3mg of iodine a day. I have thyroid nodules and won't have my thyroid removed as I want to heal it naturally. I can't take too much iodine, and I can't do the painted iodine test, because my thyroid gland actually starts throbbing quite a lot. I want to switch to fulvic acid which contains iodine and a balance of all minerals. Does anyone know if it really cures thyroid nodules, and do I need to take other iodine as well while take the fulvic acid. Thanks, I would appreciate any information from anyone who has any information about this. I do have a wellness blog that I just started about all kind of healthy, and frugal living. If anyone is interested in checking it out please do. http://coffeysplace.blogspot.com

Guest guest
Kathleen, OMG, I hope that isn't true. I should have mentioned it is organic kelp, so I'm assuming that makes the difference. I agree with you about kelp, and I believe fish and other sea vegetables from regular sources are terribly contaminated. The brand I use is Maine Coast, and they mention Dr. Brownstein on the label. I'm really happy with it, but I need to get rid of these nodules, and there has been proof of thyroid nodules being cured with Fulvic Acid. I want to mention that for other nodule sufferers who may be looking for natural solutions too. So that is why I want to try the Fulvic Acid, but I don't know if it really works, and if I need to take my iodine (kelp) along with it or if it contains enough iodine alone for me to stop the kelp while I'm on the Fulvic Acid. I can't afford to go to an alternative doctor, and the allopathic doctors just want to cut. I have multiple chemical sensitives (MCS) and react to so many things, and try to cure with all natural things, so I'm a little hesitant to try the Lugol's or the Iodoral, and I can't explain it except to say intuition. I'm not certain if it is intuition or fear of a reaction, so I might consider it in the future. Thanks for you reply. Does anyone else know? Thanks. Guest guest
Hello, Jeanne,Arsenic has been shown by several studies to be in Brown Marine Algae and in Kelp. http://www.naturalproductsinsider.com/news/2007/04/kelp-contamination-alert.aspx\http://www.ehow.com/about_5268293_side-effects-taking-kelp-supplements.htmlhttp://www.reference-global.com/doi/abs/10.1515/botm.1983.26.4.159http://www.scienceblog.com/cms/arsenic-toxic-low-levels-ferrate-oxidation-innovative-approach-mediate-25645.htmlhttp://www.newsmaxhealth.com/dr_brownstein/iodine_forms/2009/09/23/263690.htmlI avoid Kelp because you never know when or if it is in the Kelp supplement and I do not want myself to get worse and inadvertantly ingest Arsenic. I take Iodoral and would have also gotten Lugol's but shipping costs to Hawaii are ridiculous if the USPS is not the shipping method. The Iodoral I ordered from Breastcanceralternatives arrived in 2 days via the Post Office:) -Val M->> Kathleen,> > OMG, I hope that isn't true. Guest guest
Hello Jeanne, Here is the mineral composition of sea water. http://www.seaagri.com/DetailedCompositionofSeawater.pdf I take both kelp and Iodoral. I give kelp to my husband who won't take Iodoral and selenium on a regular basis but he doesn't mind a kelp capsule...too much. He can take it at supper and it won't disrupt his sleep. I started doing this after reading J Crows website. I consume clay on a regular basis to rid my body of foreign substances. I also find that my bowels work better with kelp. That being said, if I had nodules, I would do Iodoral first to get things straightened out, then go back to kelp. A little arsenic isn't going to hurt you but you wouldn't want to take large amounts of kelp that equal the high dose of Iodoral. Arsenic is natural occurring just as most minerals. I don't worry about it. I don't know anything about fulvic acid but you piqued my curiosity. Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, I thought organic meant it wasn't contaminated, but maybe I will call them to be sure. Thanks. I thought Lugol's might be too strong for me as when I painted with iodine I had severe throbbing in my thyroid. With the nodules, and hypo symptoms, and the throbbing reaction I had, I didn't think I could take the Lugol's safely. I'm afraid I don't know too much about this situation. I've know a lot about other conditions, but I seem to be at a loss with my thyroid problems. If you you know somewhere I can find the info I need, I would appreciate the link. I just want to get rid of these nodules as they want to remove my whole thyroid, and the nodules are growing. I really don't have any trust in the tradition way medicine handles this and many other diseases. Thanks a lot for your time, I appreciate you responding to me. Guest guest
So, I looked up Maine Coast's website. Here is there nutritional breakdown: http://seaveg.com/shop/index.php?main_page=page & id=15 & chapter=5 Arsenic is not on the list. Note how high the iodine content is in the kelp. Guest guest
Jeanne, I agree with others who have expressed that taking Iodoral until you tame the nodules would be a good way to proceed. Curing nodules requires high doses of iodine. Iodoral is easier to take because Lugol's, in high quantities, can be hard on some people's stomachs. I understand if you have chemical sensitivities you'd be concerned, but iodine is a natural remedy, and the Iodoral is formulated cleanly. Start off with Lugol's if you're most comfortable, but I was talking with someone offlist about her nodules and she started on Lugol's and got disappointed because it upset her stomach. I started with Lugol's and same thing, when I got into high doses it started upsetting my stomach, but, I still take a 20mg dose of Lugol's each day because the stomach and mucous linings all use iodine directly. I also like to rub it into the skin external to my thyroid, and it really helps aching joints to rub it in externally. You can start with Lugol's because you can start with just 1 drop to test it out. The thing is, a lot of people have stronger detox reactions on lower doses than with higher doses, apparently because the lower dose iodine can't get as much work done and it's messier as a result. Just be aware that any " reactions " people have to iodine are virtually always from the iodine detoxing the body and the symptoms are from the toxins circulating in the body. Salt loading, by which the salt binds to the toxins and stimulates urination, washes the toxins out of the body. It turns out that iodine allergy or sensitivity is extremely rare. A lot of people's fear is fed by the Western medicine phobia of iodine, even when people don't realize they've been exposed to that phobia. I'm taking it for Hashi's and Fibromyalgia and am so happy about it. Feeling really positive about my health regimens. -- At 03:11 PM 4/13/2010, you wrote: >Hi Kathleen, > >I thought organic meant it wasn't contaminated, but maybe I will call them >to be sure. Guest guest
, Thank you so much for your response. I'm sorry to hear about your health problems, and I do understand as I have Fibromyalgia too, as well as all these thyroid problems. I am lacking in information about all of this concerning the iodine and the thyroid. I have knowledge of many other things, and have been working for years on improving my health and others as well. I'm on an organic clean diet all the time. No bread, no soy, etc., but my thyroid nodules not only continue but are getting worse. I've been reading a lot of posts here to try and learn, and I really appreciate your advice. I do think I will try the iodine you suggested. I was very afraid since I too, years ago, had a terrible reaction to the iodine scan, and everything in me told me not to go ahead with it. But I now know it probably wasn't the iodine, but the radioactive substances. And I learned that perhaps the terrible throbbing I had in my thyroid when I tested myself for iodine deficiency, a couple of years ago. by painting the iodine tincture on myself, might have been that my thyroid was trying to " grab " it in. I have been taking the organic kelp for a while because I recognized the need for iodine, but I now realize the 3mg. is too little. I also hope the kelp wasn't contaminated as some posted have told me it could be. The only reason I take it was because it was organic and they claim to test for pollutants. Every single thing I eat is organic except for avocados which I eat conventional, and I don't eat any prepared foods at all except for organic plain whole milk yogurt. I am grateful that I defied the doctor about 5 years ago, after an inconclusive FNA and kept my thyroid. My intuition just told me it wasn't a simple thing to lose a thyroid, as the doctors portrayed it to me. I'm against taking medicine (as I take none) and couldn't imagine having to take thyroid medicine every day for the rest of my life, unless there was no other choice. So many posts here have reinforced my decision to try everything I can to keep my thyroid and make it healthy again. I really believe we all have a lot of power over our own health, and sharing information is the key. All of you great people on this site are so wonderful for sharing all the information you have, because you all are helping so many people with this terrible struggle. I will continue to let everyone know how I am progressing too, so that some others can benefit from it. I think diet is of the utmost importance as well, and I know I would be so much worse off if I wasn't so vigilant about my diet. That is why I started my blog. What everyone needs to be aware of is that most processed food contains soy in one form or another. Often in the form of soybean oil, and this is also contributing to some of the thyroid problems as well as this important need for iodine, since soy " competes " for iodine. Do you or anyone know about Fulvic Acid? (I do NOT sell it) I want to try it also, but I'm trying to get more information about it. It's basically minerals in it's ionic form, including iodine. But I don't know if it contains enough iodine or if iodine needs to be supplemented with it as well. Has anyone tried the Fulvic Acid to cure nodules? Anyone can google it, and see that there is a lot of evidence that it cures thyroid nodules. I don't understand why it isn't in the news and why everyone isn't shouting it from the rooftops, considering the epidemic problem we are experiencing with thyroid issues. (Well, maybe I do know why it isn't being reported). Much the same reason that this iodine deficiency isn't being reported, because there isn't a profit built like there is for drugs. Thanks all, Jeanne > > > > > > > > kelp is full of arsenic and other toxic substances, not a good idea > > to get your iodine that way. Guest guest
Hello Jeanne, I also have thyroid nodules and so went looking to buy Fulvic Acid and noticed Bromine is listed in the trace minerals. Not sure if that amount is a problem with high levels of Iodine or not. Steph would need to comment on that one. > > > > > > > > kelp is full of arsenic and other toxic substances, not a good idea > > to get your iodine that way. Guest guest
hi Jeanne, Glad to be of some help, as is everyone here. The Internet has been a marvel for learning about health. I would suggest not worrying about the kelp and possible contamination. A number of manufacturers are testing for toxins and processing to remove them. Regardless, it's a new day. The main problem as I see it is, as you have learned, that 3mg/day isn't enough to help you. My reaction on hearing that your thyroid had throbbed in response to painted-on iodine is exactly that, yes, it was trying to grab the iodine. So if, when you first start the therapeutic levels of iodine, your thyroid swells some, that is considered a normal response and that WILL go away. I had only vaguely heard about fulvic acid and did look it up. Balanced minerals are a wonder. However, there is not anywhere near enough iodine in fulvic acid to do what needs doing for you. You probably won't have to stay on high doses of iodine for always, but it's the way through to solving your nodules if you want to avoid Western medical-industrial interventions. You will need to do the full amounts of the companion nutrients, the full amount of the supplemental unrefined salt (which has balanced minerals), and then be prepared to do salt loading to take care of any detox symptoms you may have. Do please remember that a lot of people have more detox problems with lower doses than with higher. People regularly come here and describe having done well with higher doses, then had to stop for some reason, and now were on a lower, " starter " dose and struggling with discomfort. It's clear they tolerate higher doses and need that level for wellness. You'll have to balance your fears with the benefits of higher doses more quickly, but just be aware that all of the detox symptoms (which can be any symptom either on the official list or from your past medical issues) are transient and will pass, most easily if you do the salt loading. Please keep us informed about how and what you are doing. This is how we learn. with best wishes, -- At 04:15 PM 4/14/2010, you wrote: >, > >Thank you so much for your response. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks, I'm glad you concur with me about the throbbing. When it happened I thought is was a bad reaction. Amazing what a little knowledge will do. Now I learned that it is an indication of severe iodine deficiency, and that the thyroid was just grasping for it. My intuition knew I had an iodine deficiency that is why I've been taking the organic granulated kelp, but I didn't know it wasn't enough. Thanks for the other info, too, I did learn through reading here that often more means less toxic symptoms, and I will do the salt drinks as I read about that too, and I already use only celtic sea salt. I'll have to search around to find out what other things to take, but I'll find them easily enough. I'm glad you mentioned that there isn't enough iodine in the Fulvic Acid so that is good to know, as I couldn't find out about that. I have a lot to work on now. If I could throw out one last question, to anyone. Is there anytime when you would be having a bad reaction to the iodine that you really would need to stop it? And what would that reaction be? I really feel I can resolve these nodules naturally, and will report back when I get going with everything to let everyone else know in case they want to try it to. Thanks again, Jeanne > > > > > > > > > > > > kelp is full of arsenic and other toxic substances, not a good > > idea > > > > to get your iodine that way. Guest guest
I am on Fulvic Acid for the past 3 weeks plus Thyractin (iodine)and plant enzymes i put in my water. On Wed, Apr 14, 2010 at 2:15 PM, crystalvision11 <crystalvision11@...> wrote:  , Thank you so much for your response. Guest guest
Hi , I didn't consider that. I wonder if it is the same kind of Bromine. What I do know about Fulvic Acid, is it isn't damaging, but all accounts have it as helpful and healthy. Whether it cures thyroid nodules or not, that I'm trying to find out. Maybe the balance is important as I know it contains all or almost all trace minerals, but you raise and interesting question. Please if you find out the answer post it, and if I find out I'll post it. On a personal note, I'm sorry to hear about your thyroid nodules, as I understand how difficult it is. I would be interested in knowing what you are doing, or plan on doing. If you read my post then you know that I'm trying everything to hold onto my thyroid. It's very difficult, because doctors really try to put the scare into you about it being thyroid cancer. Are you considering Fulvic Acid too? I also don't know what brand to go to as I don't know of anyone personally who takes it, and all the brands seem to claim to be the " best " . Plus I want to make sure it is pure. At least now I know I have to take iodine with it regardless, since it doesn't contain enough of that. Guest guest
Peggy, I didn't know what Thyractin was, glad you mentioned iodine. Good to know you are taking the iodine along with the Fulvic Acid, which I just learned that Fulvic Acid doesn't contain enough iodine by itself. Are you taking it for thyroid nodules? How did you choose which brand to use? Are you allowed to mention the brand? I've searched for one, and they all seem to claim to be the best, I just want to make sure to get a safe one. Did you have any problems taking it? Jeanne > > > > > > > > > > > > kelp is full of arsenic and other toxic substances, not a good idea > > > > > > to get your iodine that way. Guest guest
Hey Jeanne, The rule of thumb about detox symptoms is given as, if you're salt loading every day for a week because of bad symptoms, probably should drop back the iodine a bit to give your liver/kidneys a break. I found with myself just a small increment drop works fine. People have different tolerances about what constitutes difficult as opposed to tolerable detox symptoms, so you'll have to gauge for yourself what is workable or not. -- At 05:28 PM 4/14/2010, you wrote: >Hi , > >Thanks, I'm glad you concur with me about the throbbing. Guest guest
Fulvic acid is supposed to makes minerals and nutrients more absorbable and take them right into cells. Humic acid is a much larger molecule, that can't be absorbed, and is supposed to pull heavy metals from the body like a magnet, and bind them for excretion. Guest guest
, Thank you so much again. I will remember that. I will probably have to do that since I had liver trouble before and a kidney stone a year ago. I use fresh organic lemon juice every morning to keep kidney stone free. I just wanted to mention that if anyone has the same trouble. Guest guest
Jeanne, I wasn't prepared with the knowledge that detox symptoms can mimic ailments you've had in the past. So it threw me off when it happened. Just trying to help others not have to do that. btw, the viewpoint that symptoms will repeat themselves starting with the most recent and moving back in time, and also that of the month of recovery for every year of illness, both those concepts come from Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). And it's so true, very obviously with adventures in iodine. I don't want to get into a conversation about it here on the iodine list, but I am curious how much lemon juice you are taking, and whether on empty stomach. -- >, > >Thank you so much again. Guest guest
Are thyroid nodules when your thyroid is large on either side?JagFrom: Baker <vbaker@...>Subject: Re: Re: Fulvic Acid for Thyroid Nodulesiodine Date: Thursday, April 15, 2010, 1:00 AM Jeanne, I wasn't prepared with the knowledge that detox symptoms can mimic ailments you've had in the past. Guest guest
if you google thyroid nodules, you will find pictures of what they look like on the thyroid gland. they are not a swollen thyroid, but separate growths on the thyroid gland itself. Guest guest
Jag, Thyroid nodules are basically tumors. A nicer name for them. But the term usually loosely includes tumors, cyst, and goiters. Goiters usually being directly caused by a lack of iodine, but I'm more and more convinced that one of the causes of thyroid tumors are also caused by a lack of iodine, from what I can tell. I believe soy is one of the causes of mine, and soy is very bad for the thyroid and virtually blocks the iodine to the thyroid. Of course, there are many causes of thyroid tumors. The lack of iodine, I believe, is one of the causes of the epidemic of thyroid problems we are experiencing. That is why this group is so important. Guest guest
Iodine is protective against cancer. It stimulates cell apoptosis, which means programmed cell death, which is the natural order of the cells dying off in their turn, as is needed to maintain health. When cells won't die, that's cancer. So not only is lack of iodine inhibitory of thyroid function, iodine itself is directly protective against cancer. And people have been cured of thyroid cancer using the iodine protocol. It is thought by some that lack of iodine is a fundamental reason for the cancer epidemic. Normally our cells die off in their turn, and so as damage is done to a cell it will die off and the body renew itself. Without cell die off, we don't properly renew, we gradually become more and more toxic with more and more cells not functioning properly because they are old and damaged. And we don't have cell die off without iodine. -- >The lack of iodine, I believe, is one of the causes of the epidemic of >thyroid problems we are experiencing.
