First, some history so you will understand the subject title above. About five years ago I found myself experiencing panic attacks, severe headaches, inability to sleep, depressionand feeling like I was absolutely going crazy! When I visited my doctor he noticed that mytemp was low. He checked my thyroid and said it was out of whack but that he wouldn'ttreat me for it. Time went by and finally I ended up in hospital psych ward for one week, wasplaced on a low dose of anti-depressants and sent home. I hated how those pills made mefeel so I got off of them. I researched the net on my condition. I got off of wheat, soy, sugar, etc. and got unto healthy, non-cooked food as much as possible. That included raw milk & eggs daily and plenty of greens. Time went by and improvements were made. But theheadaches & depression remained. About a year ago my N.D. took me off ALL suppsand said clear your body and let us get a fresh start. Then he wanted me to go on iodine,50 mgs daily. I told him I would but in my heart I knew I wouldn't since what I wanted todo was to get well "naturally." To me that meant just through diet. Well, I tried...and itdidn't work. Two weeks ago in the morning while meditating I asked "source" (others would say god), "what is it I'm missing for good health?" Believe it or NOT, but the word"iodine" came into my consciousness. I forgot it and headed out to the local coffee shop.I met a friend of mine who was a retired doctor and psychotherapist. As we were sippingour coffee he said "out of the blue," "my god, let me tell you how wonderful I have been feeling!" He had been on IODINE! He said his TSH had gone through the roof but he wasfeeling fine!!! (NOTE: in the video link I shall provide further down, this woman talksabout high TSH. She makes good points!) Anyway, I went home and began a course of iodine therapy, 50 mgs. Two days later I had a blood draw for a thyroid panel. It came backout of whack but not major. In the first week I experienced some nasty detox symptomsbut he told me to follow Dr. Brownsteins protocol of salt-loading. It has worked miracles. My depression has all but walked out the door, my hands & feet are warmer and my morningtemp finally hit 97.6, the highest I've ever seen! It was always down around the low 96's.My doctor told me that at the top of the list of things to do was in this order: 1) get plenty ofrest. Sleep when tired...eat when hungry. I go to bed when the sun goes down...literally andget up around 4:30/5:00. 2) I take the Iodine, 3) When I awake during the night, say around 12 to 2, I drink a glass of water with 1/2 tsp of Celtic Sea Salt. I drink a 2nd glassduring the day, sometime in the p.m., 4) I make sure I eat 1 Brazil Nut daily. It contains ahigh amount of selenium which is needed.I meditate daily, listen to calming music, exercise, read uplifting books. I do what I must inorder to bring peace, joy and order to my life. No one else is going to do it for me. I am getting to know me and learning to speak the truth, first with myself and then with others. We wear lots of masks I'm afraid and they don't do us any good.Ah yes, "Dr. Janet Lang." I was doing more research yesterday and came across this womandoctor. She was at the Weston Price Institute speaking and I saw a 10 minute video clip ofher. I was impressed and followed her links to her site and downloaded the mp3 on hertalk. Who she is talking to is professional people, doctors, etc. But she gives a lot of goodadvice. She talked about folks having high TSH's and what that meant. She said that whenit is high, if a person is feeling good in spite of it, then not to worry for in time it will comedown on its own accord. But, if your feeling "BAD," then that means something else. Thedownload is $12 and after I listened to it I felt it was worth the info. So here is that link:Dr Janet Lang on Iodine and Thyroid Health I see that I've babbled on way to much. Let me know how you might see what I've saiddifferently. Grendahl
