Guest guest
Wow, you guys seem to have so much information about Iodine and the thyroid...If you read my previous post then you know I have been struggling with this for a while, with the help of a naturopath who maybe is not that much help, since she really wants to put me on Naturthroid (sp?). I really don't want to take hormones, etc.; I would like to find out why my body isn't working quite right and help it to restore balance. I just dug out my bloodwork paperwork...if anyone would care to comment on it I would be enormously appreciative! March 2007: TSH: 3.04 (that seems to be the only thyroid test done that time) November 2009: TSH: 2.12 T3 Free: 2.5 T4 Free: 1.4 August 2010: TSH: not run T3 Free: 2.5 T4 Free: 1.2 I have tried the iodine protocol (50mg of Lugols/day + companion nutrients), but I am not sure if that is what I need. Also for some reason, Lugols seems to make my menstrual cycle irregular, so I have cut back to just a couple drops per day, along with selenium and a thyroid supplement from the naturopath that contains Ashwaganda, Rosemary, Selenium, Vitamins A, D and E, Zinc, Guggulsterones, and a small amount of Iodine from kelp. Oh, and I also take some fish oil. I am not sure what to do at this point. Are my thyroid numbers even that low? My symptoms are chronic fatigue and coldness, as well as depression, although I now feel that something I am taking is helping the depression a lot (maybe the fish oil?), because I am really feeling ok emotionally at this point (yay!). My naturopath thinks it may be more of a liver problem because she says I am not converting T4 into T3 (?). My ex-husband has Hepatitis C, so it is possible that my liver could be affected as well. She gave me a homeopathic liver cleanse to take, but I haven't done it yet because my kidneys/bladder have been bothering me since September, but that's another issue (maybe), and I haven't wanted to add any toxins to their load. Any thoughts would be so helpful! Thank you!!!

Guest guest
Hmmm, ok thanks! Sounds like good advice. I've always been afraid to take Naturethroid, Armour, etc. because I have heard that taking the hormones can make your body forget how to make the hormones on its own...but maybe I should give it a try. I can certainly do the liver cleanse and see if that helps too...its just that my pesky kidneys are acting up again and I don't want to give them a lot of toxins to excrete. But who knows maybe doing the liver cleanse would help my kidneys too...nothing else I'm doing is working for them. Thanks! > > > > You need to put your lab ranges along side your test numbers in order for anyone to comment on them. > > Thanks! > > Donna in IL > > > > From: iodine <mailto:iodine%40> [mailto:iodine <mailto:iodine%40>] On Behalf Of coracushman > > Sent: Tuesday, December 07, 2010 10:03 AM > > iodine <mailto:iodine%40> > > Subject: Thyroid Numbers? > > > > > > > > Wow, you guys seem to have so much information about Iodine and the thyroid...If you read my previous post then you know I have been struggling with this for a while, with the help of a naturopath who maybe is not that much help, since she really wants to put me on Naturthroid (sp?).
