Guest guest
Yes this does happen to some people. Magnesium, Vit C and Unrefined salt seems to help most with this. If you cannot afford the supporting nutrients then maybe now is not the time to do this. I understand your concern about the radiation but you also need to support your body when taking iodine - especially if you are prone to detoxing which seems to cause adrenal stress that gives you anxiety. Buist, ND Major anxiety Hi all,I saw this on a thread but didn't follow because I haven't taken iodine for awhile and didn't feel the effects but now remember why I stopped. Anxiety.Because of the fallout threat I began painting Lugol's 5% over my thyroid. Don't take the supps that go with it as I cannot afford. After 2 or 3 days I thought I was going out of my mind. Even told a client I needed Xanex (is that a major drug?)Figured out it was the iodine and drank a double dose of chocolate powdered drink mix and a piece of cholcolate on a receptionist's dest. Helped. Went home after work feeling a little better but had a glass of wine. Sorry I did that as wine makes me depressed. Does anyone else have these symptoms? I'm hypothryoid so this seems strange to me. Why should I feel so bad? It was as though my mind had no liquid between the folds so the raw electrical impulses scraped along. My son wanted be to check into a hospital. NO!Any insight?
Guest guest
I'm thinking you may be better able to do potassium iodide which doesn't seem to have the detox symptoms nearly so much and it's better than iodine for radiation protection.Mods what say you?Ariel On Tue, Mar 15, 2011 at 9:43 AM, Parashis <artpages@...> wrote: Hi all, I saw this on a thread but didn't follow because I haven't taken iodine for awhile and didn't feel the effects but now remember why I stopped. Guest guest
Thanks for that.I actually do have the Magnesium Chloride that I painted on my face, but not until the 3rd day of painting my thyroid with Lugol's. I also take large amounts of sea salt and have done that for several years. Can you tell me what I most likely am detoxing out of my body? I must have loads of it. I do have a mouth full of fillings. Guest guest
If iodine makes you feel anxious, why not split up the dose into two or even three during the day? Also I load up with slow release vitamin C and salt before I take my firt iodine dose in the morning. I hardly feel the effect, but I feel it if I take the whole lot in one go without any other supps and the salt. Guest guest
,I'm hyperthyroid. I'm a mess too. Don't feel bad. I have also resorted to drinking at this moment and I'm also going through menopause. I average about 10 hours of sleep a week. At least when I drink I can get 4 hours in a row at times but still not enough. Xanax is a very addicting drug. I use to be on it and I was taking it for about 8 years. Stay away from it. I would rather drink than take that crap. I haven't taken it for 3 years. In fact I quit all of my meds that MD's have prescribed. Guest guest
, If you have any adrenal issues, it will also affect your thyroids and your sleeping. Plus imbalances in electrolytes can cause a lot of disruptions... I know drinking might be the least of all evils for you right now, but I would just say that it does depress cortisol from your adrenals which then affects all of your hormone balances, insulin reactions, etc. It really drives many things in your body, and we cannot be well without good adrenal function. just a thought, laura On 3/15/2011 10:21 AM, DeNormandie wrote: , I'm hyperthyroid. Guest guest
When iodine gives you intense symptoms, it is because you are not taking the companion nutrients. You need the other nutrients; you can't take iodine alone. The worse your detox symptoms, the more you need iodine & all the other nutrients.AnneOn Mar 15, 2011, at 6:43 AM, Parashis wrote: Hi all, I saw this on a thread but didn't follow because I haven't taken iodine for awhile and didn't feel the effects but now remember why I stopped. Guest guest
Hi Anne, I was taking all my companion nutrients and at higher dosages of iodine and I was experiencing the same thing mentioned. I felt really awful from anxiety about a half hour to hour after taking iodine. Even my husband noticed such a difference. My body reacts to medications the same way. I could never take cold medications for that reason. Could it just affect me differently? I know each individual has a different make up and it could be that some are more sensitive possibly such as myself. I will just start out again at a lower dosage and see how I feel. Guest guest
You know, everybody in my family has weird reactions to drugs, so I feel your pain. My sister was at the doc's one time, & he was prescribing a new medication for her. She told him that she is very sensitive to drugs, & asked him to prescribe half the normal dose. Naturally, being a doctor, he figured she knew nothing. He gave her a full dose of whatever it was right there in the office, to show her how foolish she was being. She collapsed, & her blood pressure got so low they couldn't measure it. They were getting to call for an ambulance when she finally came around. (Reportedly he gave her lower doses of meds after that. She only had to practically die in front of him to get his attention!)My first thought is that nutrients are in a different category. My second thought is that you have something else going on -- probably something adrenal? It gets dicey when you have more than one thing going on...I would definitely go low & slow for your next attempt, but also do some reading in the adrenal fatigue area, perhaps? In the years I have been trying to address my health problems, I keep finding people who are looking for the One True Cause of all their problems, & what I keep coming back to is that there isn't one. We are all bombarded with toxins, eating unhealthful food, subjected to stresses. All of these interacting factors are at work in each person's unique physiology. Every problem that you resolve is just going to make another problem the primary one. I am beginning to think that none of us will live long enough to fix it all. But every step you take in the right direction is a step in the right direction, even if it is not The Cure.AnneOn Mar 15, 2011, at 11:00 AM, Lori@... wrote: Hi Anne, I was taking all my companion nutrients and at higher dosages of iodine and I was experiencing the same thing mentioned. Guest guest
I have tried everything from valerian root, kava kava, a method called Tapping, has helped with pain, magnesium oil, magnesium chloride flakes, meletonin, 5-HTP and a I've tried everything that has been mentioned to me between all of my groups I belong to. My adrenal glands are fine. All of my nutrients and vitamins are at great levels including vitamin D and calcium, I've tried over the counter PM meds, unisom, Ambien CR even. I haven't had a period for 6 months now and yes, menopause has hit me. I'm 47. My endo I went to see said my TSH was very low and that is what is causing me not to be able to sleep. Something about this hormone is used to tell the pituatary gland what to do. It is driving me nuts. This has been going on for 8 months now. I'm exhausted, most mentally. I don;t know if I'm coming or going. She wants to put me on HRT, I said no thank-you. I have quit 11 of my meds and no longer take nothing. Everything from morphine to Pentasa for my crohn's. Why take crap when it isn't working. I just don;t sleep and if I do fall asleep I never enter deep stages of sleep. I dream big time and I only sleep for a hour or two at most.I drink now as a way to relax. Last resort. It is hard for me to believe that menopause would cause this but then again what the heck do I know.I refuse to spend anymore money on herbal stuff. I've dumped way too much money into that stuff and it just doesn't phase me nor does it help. I've even gone as far as doubling and triplying doses.I refuse to go on that premarin cream or however you pronounce it. I have enough auto immune disease I don't need cancer or any other problems at this moment. from IllinoisFrom: Anne Seals <anneseals@...>iodine Sent: Tue, March 15, 2011 1:30:44 PMSubject: Re: Major anxiety Have you tried a Tibetan singing bowl for anxiety?AnneOn Mar 15, 2011, at 10:21 AM, DeNormandie wrote: ,I'm hyperthyroid. It makes a huge difference in anxiety, and other symptoms that can be run by various hormones of the body. Magnesium is a huge help for calming and the mag glycinate that stephanie recommends works much better for me for higher doses. Guest guest
Those are all fine and my sugar runs between 50 and 80 on the low side. My blood pressure is also low. My cortisol levels are fine.I don;t drink everyday. When I go 5 days without sleep yes then I drink. I went without sleep for 7 days about 5 months ago and hallucinated. Scared the crap out me. I went into the hospital. They would give me anything to sleep there. I was in there for 3 days no sleep.I don't anyone anymore. Tired of the BS I've gone through the past 35 years. Guest guest
,Low progesterone associated with menopause can cause sleeplessness. A doc who specializes in hormones could test you. Guest guest
I had terrible depression that I felt was due to going off the HRT after my BC diagnosis and the big drop in estrogen. I would get about suicidal drops usually followed by walloping hot flashes. I came across the supplement Saffron, by Exir, on Amazon. In about a week and a half, the depression was gone! No " high " , just no depression. Guest guest
Thanks Donna, RE: Major anxiety ,It is really important that you take selenium with the iodine, along with taking the mag, vit C and salt. You can use the chloride transdermally, but you need it every day. The vit C helps grab the toxins, and the salt to move them out of your body.Donna in ILThanks for that.I actually do have the Magnesium Chloride that I painted on my face, but not until the 3rd day of painting my thyroid with Lugol's. I also take large amounts of sea salt and have done that for several years. Can you tell me what I most likely am detoxing out of my body? I must have loads of it. Guest guest
Hi Lori,It's good to know I'm not alone. I think my adrenals are stressed also. I can't afford tests though but when I can I plan to balance all my hormones with someone I trust. There' no point in trying much if the underlying problem isn't fixed or else it's just bandaids. I live in California so after awhileI will begin painting a tiny bit on my skin each day and then the day before fallout comes, take the large dose of SSKI.Thanks for your concern. RE: Major anxiety Hi , I also had awful anxiety (it would actually start about a half hour to hourafter taking iodine each day) and I think it has to do with the adrenals.I'm not certain though. My saliva tests came back fine except that I amvery, very low in progesterone. I had to stop taking it for awhile becauseI was so anxious and also could not sleep at night. My heart would race andI had trouble breathing. I am going to try again, but at a very small dosage. My iodine tests alsocame back high (ND did some tests) and it might be that I don't requirequite as much as I was taking. I know my body does also react to medicationsin a strange way. Everything just does affect me more. I could never eventake cold medication because it did the same thing to me. Where do you live?
