Guest guest
As a general rule, things that are good for your body are good for the probiotics, & only toxic to pathogens. Most of the good bugs like oxygen, & most of the bad bugs find it toxic -- which is how a lot of oxygen-based therapies can kill bad bugs without hurting good ones. Oxygen is good for your body, for pretty much every cell in your body, & therefore it is also good for healthy probiotics. We tend to think of all bacteria being the same, but they are very different. The good ones thrive in an environment in which a healthy body is getting all its vital nutrients in sufficient quantity. The bad ones actually like it better when the environment is unhealthy. Candida (which is not a bacterium, of course, but qualifies as a bad bug) gives you cravings for sugar -- because large quantities of sugar make your body less healthy, & feed the candida. One of the reasons this seems odd to us is because antibiotics do, indeed, kill the good right along with the bad. (And that is one of the reasons they can be so devastating to your gut!) Nobody ever had an antibiotic deficiency. Antibiotics aren't vital nutrients. And they don't work like vital nutrients. Iodine, on the other hand, IS a vital nutrient. It is a hard concept to wrap your head around.AnneOn Feb 26, 2011, at 1:00 PM, wrote: My husband's theory is that the iodine is absorbed before it gets to the intestines. I was just wondering why iodine helps the body to get rid of yeast, viruses, parasites and bad bacteria while allowing us to keep the healthy flora. Or does it?
