Guest guest
My dd’s iron/ferritin gets too low about every 6 months for reasons which are unclear, although she is hypothyroid. She sees a hematologist, who prescribes the infusions, who simply says there is an absorption issue which they have no tests for, so “absorption” is only a guess. My dd is hypothyroid, but she also takes many other meds to balance out pituitary damage from a traumatic brain injury and seizures. It’s pretty complicated. While infusions are very inconvenient, oral iron supplements were reducing her blood levels of other needed meds. Very complicated indeed. -
