Meryl,

Thank you for all your help. I know that even though you will not be on the

road as much, your heart will be. I was most impressed by your

thoughtfulness in calling my son in Okinawa when he refused the anthrax

vaccine in December of 1998. I know your call meant so much to him. He

couldn't believe that someone he didn't even know cared as much as you did

and do. You did not hesitate to call me or come to New York a year ago to

speak on the anthrax issue. Seeing you in Washington, DC, in November

reinforced that your knowledge and expertise on anthrax and the AVIP has

truly made you an expert!

Your kids have a great mom and I have made a great friend. Thank you for all

you have done.

Ami,

I am so glad to hear that you lost so much using BodyFlex. Unfortunately for me, that wasn't how it worked for me. I lost 8 inches in the first two weeks, but the entire two years that I tried and tried to make it work, I didn't lose even one pound. The inches would slowly go, but no pounds.

I am losing pounds and inches with LifeLift. I heard about LifeLift for two years on the BodyFlex boards. It seemed to me that they were exactly the same thing. I tried and tried to tell the difference from people trying to explain it to me. I just couldn't figure out where exactly the difference was. So, this past Christmas, I finally got LifeLift. I lost 6 inches and 5 pounds in the first three days of using it. I watched the video over and over until I was sure that I had gotten it right. I only had the original one then, because that was all that was available. I liked it so much that I started this list, invited Rashelle to join and begged her to create some workout tapes. A lot of other listers begged her to do that too. As you can see, she has been a very busy woman since Christmas. She is here to help people, and she makes sure orders go out the same day they are placed, plus she is working on new videos that people on the list have requested from her.

I sure hope you are able to break your plateau. Maybe LifeLift is just the ticket for you.

Thanks to all of you that responded to my NEW TO BOARD post! I have had great success with Body Flex. A friend of mine told me about Life Lift. She switched from BF to LL. I am curious about LL too. I lost 53 lbs with BF in 5 1/2 months. I lost a total of 12 inches in just the first week. I have now hit a plateau and have about 20 more pounds to lose. Would Lifelift be able to get me over this plateau? I hope so! I'm ready to order it! This site is nice and I noticed that Rashelle is very involved with this site and answers questions. What a wonderful woman! She is incredible.I'd really like to get to know you all better. I'll be visiting this site frequently.Again, thank you for your replies!and yes, my name isAmi

Hi Ami,

Congratulations On your success so far. :-) Even if you do order

lifelift, that does not mean you have to stop doing bodyflex. I don't know

if lifelift will get you over the hump or not, but it might. This is just my

thought. If you change exercises your body might respond to it. There for

helping you lose weight. Again, this is just how I think. Ami, I really

don't think you will be disappointed by ordering lifelift.

Thank you Sherry and Robin for the tetanus info! That was very helpful!

I've been offline a couple days, as my children have had the flu. :-(

As for the lawyer info...thanks for sending that. No, I'm not looking for an injury lawyer at this point, but just wondering if I should take "The Vaccine Guide's " advice to be listed with a lawyer, incase of "problems with authorities" in the future. I realize that MI is one of the less problematic states so far, but I just thought, it couldn't hurt to be prepared. I am working on preparing the vaccination exemption forms for the future...esp. for my baby who is due to be born in May. So, would the VA lawyer that you recommended be open to us registering with him, for this type of case? I mean, is he only into the injury protection area of the issue, or would he also be good to register with incase a dr. or hosp. or school (altough I'm going to homeschool) or whatever would want to take it upon themselves to "report" us for not vaccinating? Just wondering..

One other thought, on the whole issue of leading our lambs to the slaughter, taking the "roulette" risk...something keeps coming back to my mind in all this reading I've been doing lately. I've also heard people say that "the decision to vax or not, is to weigh whether you want your children to either have the risk of getting the illness or having the possible side effects of the vaccine". But that's not completely the case...The issue is really, THAT plus, by vaccinating, we are postponing (in most cases) a mild childhood illness, that is not a problem in most cases to treat, to adulthood, when the illnesses would be more severe and potentially more deadly/harmful, because many of the vaccinations "wear off" by adolescence. So, we're not doing our country justice by eliminating the illnesses in childhood...In addition to the fact that some of the vaccines can actually cause the disease fully, when the child may not have gotten it at all. (AM I RIGHT?) In my mind, with all of that at risk, the scales are definately in favor of NOT vacinating! Also, that these diseases have cycles of their own, that they are going to show up whether we vaccinate or not, and that when there is an epidemic, even vaccinated people get them, so they are not all "working" to protect us from the diseases anyway.

(Please someone correct me if I'm wrong.)

I finally feel like I'm starting to get a handle on the rationalle. I was so "brainwashed" myself prior to this past year! I just had a hard time believing what I was hearing! I can understand others having a hard time with the whole idea that what we've been told for all of our lives could be wrong. Now it angers me, that "what we've been told all of our lives, IS wrong!"

Well, now I'm off my soap box! :-)

I had one other question, but now I can't remember what it was...

I guess I'll have to post later when I remember it.

Thanks again!

in MI

PS, I just remembered...

I don't want to be on a "witch hunt" here, but could fiboral seizures be possible in a child 2yrs old, without incidence of a vaccine ever? But more directly related to my case... Could it be possible for a fiboral seizure to be a vaccine reaction when the last vaccine was well over a year ago?

I'm just wondering, because my son who is 2 going on 3, just had his first ever fiboral seizure, with a fever during this flu, yesterday. He has been vaccinated fully up through 18mos...and I'm not going to have any of my children vaccinated any furthur, and my soon to be newborn will never have round one as long as I'm alive, with the information that I have now. THe dr. said that it is genetic...my mother said that I had one or 2 when I was very small also, but I was also fully vaccinated...so I have nothing to go by...(none of my other 5 siblings ever had this with a fever; only me.

Thanks for your help!

Hello, Cathey.

I was hoping someone would give a doctor's opinion on this dilemma. I am

guessing that if pain goes away by eating or drinking something it is not a

heart attack. Also if an antacid makes it go away it is not a heart attack.

On the other hand if any physical activity makes it worse it may be a heart

attack. And if the pain is different from familiar spasms or includes one

of the following symptoms:

lightheadedness, fainting, nausea, shortness of breath,

anxiety, nervousness,

cold, sweaty skin,

paleness or pallor,

increased or irregular heart rate,

feeling of impending doom,

it may be a heart attack.

Of course my website which leads to many others

http://www.nccn.net/~wwithin/vaccine.htm

You may want to find the most 'scientific' articles for him

I'm an RN too............maybe that helps (and a former PEDS RN)

The peds I used to work with as an RN in the mid 70's (4 of them -

extremely busy practice) wanted to send me to school to be a Nurse

Practitioner to work with them, but something told me I didn't want to do

that and then of course be obligated to them, to stay there. I guess

something inside me knew I had other directions to travel.......thank

goodness. So, I wasn't just some 'smuck' nurse. I then worked adult ICU,

ER, Trauma Units and finally peds ICU which was about the last I could do

in the nursing field and justify it.

Find the articles written by doctors........there are some

there......hepatitis b page

mmr page

flu page

and more..........

It probably is intimidating that he's a nurse and you aren't, but don't let

it stop you. Many parents, most parents on this list know MORE than I ever

did as an RN before I educated myself.

It depends on how you communicate. Can you make an appointment with him to

sit down with a few articles and have a discussion of them? Approach it

in an organized way?

I;'ll try to send some I think might be good

I don't think I mentioned that after I had 2/3 of my lateral meniscus removed (I

can't remember whether you're having meniscus removed or articular cartilage), I

had NO pain. I was able to walk from the time I got home (of course, at that

time I was blissfully semi-sedated and had lots of lidocaine inside my knee --

but even after that wore off, I never had pain from the meniscectomy, and still

don't, nearly a year later).

Ann

Thank You!

Thanks everything for the great advice. I am doing the PT

(strengthening only) before my surgery. The surgery is for the

cartilage (sorry - I should have been more specific) as it seems to be

the most prominent problem at this time. The most significant pain I

have is along the medial line between the bones. Because I'm unable

to take NSAIDs I don't think this is going away any time soon!

The lateral release is only if he " gets in there " and there's

something specific really wrong!

Of course my hubby has heard all the bad things at work about how hard

this is - so I'm glad to have some good news to give him (although 3

months on my butt being served does sound good!). I also have a good

friend who had this done (cartilage not release) and she said it's a

breeze - that she actually felt better after.

Thanks again and I'll keep you posted!

Yeah, I was very swollen after the surgery, but the only consequence of that was

that I couldn't bend my leg all the way. It didn't hurt. The doc said straight

leg raises helps disperse the fluids away from the knee.

1. the district can't do any evaluation without a written signed consent,

not just a verbal okay

2. there is a timeline for finishing the evaluation--not that short, but

there is a deadline

3. your mom can provide signed written consent for you, as her

representative, to inspect any and all of the educational records involved.

I doubt that you could consent to anything, but you could participate in and

tape record any meetings and rely information back to her.

4. have your mom request an Iep meeting in writing; if they refuse or won't

meet the timeline you state in the letter, request PWN for the refusal or

failure to schedule a meeting.

4. all the above information is in the Parental Safeguards Notice that your

mom should have been getting at least once a year when IEP meetings were

scheduled. You can access a Virginia (each state's may vary to a degree,

but most will look mostly like this one) PSN at

http://www.pen.k12.va.us/VDOE/sped/laws.shtml

Be aware that everything in sped is in a bit of an uproar as the 2004

statute changed several parts of the law but no final federal implementing

regulations have yet been issued and no states have their regulations firmly

in place until that happens.

What state? Maybe someone will know the correct agency (doe, parent

training, advocacy and protection, etc.) to help you out.

Judi

Thank You!

I just wanted to say thanks for the kind words of welcome last week.

I had introduced myself as the sister of , a burly 17-year-old

who never had a problem with his appetite! =) In fact, the opposite

is true. Anyway, I have been reading through the posts as time

allows, and learning quite a bit. You all have some great advice. I

would like to ask again, if I may, for advice about the situation at

Tim's school. After meeting with the SpecEd teacher (with my mom) a

few weeks ago, and talking to you guys, I called him back and asked

for an IEP meeting, since we did not get to see his IEP, and my mom

doesn't remember seeing one in several years, and we would like to see

exactly what is being done to teach him to read, since we think it is

not much. The teacher did not return the phone call to me (he doesn't

really like me!), but to my mom. As I stated earlier, she is very

non-confrontational. He told her he thought we should wait until Tim

is tested by the district psychologist. He doesn't know how soon that

will be done, just that he's asked, and expected it to be sometime

soon. She, of course, agreed - because that is how she responds, not

because she truly agrees. Well, she is expected to be undergoing a

serious medical procedure sometime between now and Christmas, which

will basically render her bedfast and unable to do much of anything

for at least a month. She did tell the teacher this, and he

acknowledged that would be a problem b/c I () am not authorized

to look at Tim's information without my mom present. SO...what to do?

This school has never hesitated to call me in my mom's absence when

they needed to through the years - bathroom accidents, sickness,

whatever. Is there some kind of authorization my mom can give me to

act in her behalf for Tim's school decisions, in her absence? And

should we insist on reviewing his IEP at this point, or just wait for

the test results? Thanks for your advice!

Your mother needs to

1. Get your name on the list of people who can be authorized to sign off on

legal documents.

(She can do this by just typing a simple note saying that you have the

same rights as she does until further notice. THEN, when she is back on

her feet, she can get rid of it. Or, you can just have it for further need,

even tho you are not as directly involved anymore. Then, she can sign

this in front of a notary.)

2. Put in writing a request for an IEP meeting. Date it and get it to the

school, and have them date it and make a copy for her. They then have 10

days from that date, to call an IEP meeting and you can change or add

whatever you as the team feels is needed.

3. Take a tape recorder and have it in the middle of the table during the

meeting.

This is a non confrontational way of handling things.

Also, if you want him tested, again, put it in writing and have it dated.

They then have 60 days to test and present the results to you. But you do

NOT have to wait until then for an IEP meeting.

You can have an IEP meeting whenever you want.

as i said in my previous post, go look in his permanant file and get the

copies you need. (you could make a comment when requesting the various

Is Tim due for a triennial review, is that why they say they need

psycological testing? I'm sure alot of people here can think of testing

that would help develope an IEP and better serve Tim's needs, but it

wouldn't be testing for IQ type of things like psych testing usually is.

(could be wrong about that tho...wouldn't be the first time, lol) BTW

exactly what test is the psycologist using to 'test' Tim? that should have

been writen on the consent form, and the reason that test was chosen and

what they are looking for with that test should also have been briefly

stated on the form. (I could look at my states website to see if they have

one online if you'd like to see what i'm talking about, or perhaps someone

else has a website that has this type of form)

I looked on my states web site, they do have forms but I had to email the

web master and complain about them not listing the language with the title,

plus for the one I think might be what you should see....all the links were

in forgien languages, so i let the webmaster know my displeasure. hehe.

Check your dept. of ed. web site, if you can't find forms on your states

website, then look in a different states. this will give you an idea of

what the parental rights notification should look like (you get this with

EVERY meeting notice and then get on at the meeting, lol) just all kinds of

nice things to see and be aware of. You might want to see if they have a

copy for refusal to grant a request or whatever (prior written notice?

can't remember need sleep, lol maybe someone else knows of a place to find

them)

Good luck
