Guest guest
Hey , The other Sandi here. I hope is feeling better soon. Is he still on Zithromax? Bri's about ready for another round, I can tell by the SINUS INFECTION BEHAVIOR. But I had hoped would be better. Take care. Sandi--Mom to , age 8. Guest guest
Hi , It's so nice to hear from you!! I have been wondering about you guys. First of all, good for you--fight as much as you need--to get things done. Does have an IEP? About the sinuses, it does sound like he could be infected. only sneezes when he has a sinus infection, and he has severe allergies. It is one of the special things he does, but it is unique to him and I always know he is infected if he is sneezing. This year, the grass and pollen counts are extremely high. People with allergies are all having a difficult time, could be reacting to that. Do you use nose spray? Also, Bri is on one and a half Zyrtec, which is a very high dose, but he needs it. Maybe needs something stronger? Take care-- Sandi--Mom to , age 9. Suspected IgA def., Tetrology of Fallot, chronic sinusitis, chronic ear infections, asthma, severe allergies, GERD. Ten surgeries, heart surgery pending.
Guest guest
- allergies are a constant source of aggravation with Les and and both have been through numerous meds and different allergy shots to no avail. With 's problem being too much IgE I'm really at a loss on what might help. It just seems like there's so much of it to cause trouble that I'm not sure what meds could possibly help. It's really a unique situation and one that I'm sad to say I'm just not familiar with. Any new treatment protocols lately for Hyper IgE? I think that's where some relief might lay is with treating the PID more aggressively and calming that down. I'm hoping also that things with the school system go better and that takes some of the stress of you. Guest guest
Sandi: One of 's peds (not the one yesterday) has pressed the otoscope against her cheek on the outside and looked inside her mouth toward the upper cheek. He called it a " cheap CT scan " . I thought it was pretty clever. Next time I will ask him how he did it so I can do it at home and maybe save a needless co-pay sometime (or know to go in when I'm hesitating). Guest guest
Hi everyone, Can you tell I'm VERY behind on reading/answering messages?! I did want to comment on the use of the lights to create another way to figure out if sinuses are infected. It's called " transducing " and different docs have different opinions about how reliable the results are -- it is more a " feel " thing than a true scientific process, but it's worth a try. The easiest thing to do is buy a small, intense flashlight (those little metal ones work well), but not a laser type of light, because they don't spread the light around (it's more one intense stream of light), and they can damage eyes if kids look right at them. Just put the light flat against the skin, all around the cheekbones and upper jaw areas, and get a feel for how the underlying tissue illuminates -- how it looks when the child is well and when they're infected... as I said, some put more faith in this than others, but it will only cost a few bucks for a decent flashlight that can be used for other things, so it's not really a big outlay to test it. Hope that helps, > > Sandi: > > One of 's peds (not the one yesterday) has pressed the otoscope against > her cheek on the outside and looked inside her mouth toward the upper cheek. > He called it a " cheap CT scan " . Guest guest
Bonnie - first of all being diagnosed with Mantle Cell, getting scared to death, and then being told that you have SLL/CLL is not uncommon. Apparently under the microscope the two look similar. So, as far as possible, be pleased..... MANY of us have sinus problems. I have not heard a definitive explanation of why this is so, only several half baked ones which I will not even pass on. (Has anyone else heard a realistic explanation?) We all cope in different ways. Personally, here is my arsenal of weaponry: There is an over the counter product called ALKOLOL. With a baby syringe (5 cc) take half ALK and half warm water, put such into each nostril, lean back, hold as long as you can (it stings a little) then let it all flow into a towel. Blow your nose. Cleans you out nicely. Second, I use a steroid nose spray called NASAREL. Third, we discovered a great antibiotic spray. Take a 40 ml little bottle of Ocean Spray (or similar), buy a 22 gm tube of BACTROBAN. Pry open top of Ocean Spray, squeeze in about 1/4 (5 gm) of the Bactroban, close, shake vigorously, use as spray when you get colored (bacteria polluted) discharge. Finally, you can use AFRIN, but sparingly, only 2-3 times, then lay off for at least a week. Good luck, Balan
Guest guest
I've been dealing with this for the last 4 years, and no one has an answer. Anti-Biotics don't help, and allowed them to " fix " my deviated septum (I can't remember what that surgery is called) and wound up in the ICU! It didn't help at all. My sinuses are worse at night, as if I sleep on my sides I can't breath through my nose at all. PS...I have read and will reply to all that have written me, but I'm hurting with another ******* ******* headache!!!!! Guest guest
Hi Guys, I'm new and have been reading many of the posts regarding stills. I was diagnosed in March, however from reading I appear to have a very light case of it. I've primarily had fevers and arthritis pain and it's been under control with merely taking 1000mg of Naproxen. Hopefully I go into remission and don't deal with it anymore. My biggest fear is arthritic hands because I'm a magician specializing in sleight of hand with cards.... the joint pain will put a damper on that! But... I'm going to be and remain positive. Regarding the Sinus problems. 1. I had my right side 95% blocked due to a deviated septum. 2. The passages between my sinuses were naturally small 3. I was diagnosed in 2000 with chronic sinusitus: a condition where you basically have a low grade sinus infection very frequently to all the time including pollups in the cavity. I went on antibiotics and steroids for a 10 days for 9 months on monthly intervals. Each time I did a treatment the sinus responded and it's HEAVEN!!!! I slept solidly for the first time in many years. However, shortly after the treatments the condition was back and the gains all lost. 4. Also did sinus rinsing. Neilmed Bottle w/ their packets (although you don't need to buy their little solution packets you can make it yourself, email me if you want to know how royaljenner@...) and save money. Neilmed makes money on the packets, not the bottle. 5. Summer 01 I decided enough is enough and had surgery! It is a very invasive process in your head. You will be " down and out " for 2 weeks. BUT... it's heaven afterwards. I would do it again darn near on a yearly basis for the relief. I've only had one sinus infection since 01!!!! Sweet! email me if you want more input. Later.... Gotta' " go make the donuts " . Royal > > I've been dealing with this for the last 4 years, and no one has an > answer. Guest guest
Kirk; If you do the surgery start with a good attitude by making your self believe this tie it will be okay and then let them know to use restrans on you at all times then you can not get at them or you’re self LOL. I know I had my sinuses scrapped and wow I could breathe. this was done to see if a full surgery would work .I do not believe they do that any more but it worked .I also did not have stills at the time . I would come home of Fridays with the most horde head aches ever. Like you I wanted to pull my eyes out. This was my sinuses being affected by the chemicals we used cleaning the printing presses were I worked as a printer before driving a bus. You know after leaving that job and driving busses I rarely had head aches after that. So what I am saying some can be over reactive to things that fire them off and finding that can be hard they never put it together for me only a job change did that. My sister has the same trouble only hers was her lungs and now she is out of work from it as it damaged her so much. She never smelt them but she would lock up breathing from them. I was a 48 hr hazmat responder and I can tell you there are things that if you smell them it is an over exposer and others you could not take the smell and you will leave the area yet they will never hurt you. it takes a very very small parts per million of skunk smell to make you want to leave yet it is so small it will never hurt you as you could not stand it at the level yet another one will get you and you will never smell it and have to us a detector to measure it's level . a side note I was classified to a lev 3 contamination and confided air spaces were I would use what looked like scuba gear and police only have 8 hrs training and fire department responders only had 8 hours more then what I went threw . I was even okay for a class 3 nuke spill clean up that’s how far the training went so try changing things be they at work or home change cleaning chems and such even after shave or perfume hair spray ect it could be any thing or nothing but all ya can do is try the rednecks Marty & G. “Some men rob you with a six-gun - others with a fountain pen.” 7 days with out Jesus makes one weak Before giving someone a piece of mind be sure you have enough to spare! Guest guest
Marty, my attitude is usually positive and I don't think that is the problem. My problem stems from Morphine! Each & every time I've been given morphine I've become hard to handle...yet I don't consciously know it! I have begged the Anesthesiologists to use something else all to no avail. I know I have a morphine pump and this may not make sense, but the morphine is pumped into my spine only, not my blood stream. Even when Dr's have tried morphine for my headaches I've become violent. I have asked to be restrained after surgery after my first reaction to it, yet that request was ignored. The part that hurts me the most is that I have a great relationship with almost all of my health care providers, and I sure as hell would hate to lose it due to someones' insistence on using morphine. I don't understand why this happens to me, but I was told by a few Dr's that my kind of reaction is not unheard of. The last time it happened they said I was in obvious agony during surgery so they pumped more & more into me...........wrong ******* answer! If anyone has had a similar reaction or can explain why this happens to me I'd be happy to learn about it. Adios, Kirk. 2008/5/30 Marty : > Kirk; > If you do the surgery start with a good attitude by making your self > believe this tie it will be okay and then let them know to use restrans on > you at all times then you can not get at them or you're self LOL.
