Guest guest
Ranges for children are higher. So the one you have for his test is correct. The critical value is the Free T3 which is the active / metabolic hormone. I don't see that being tested. Is the T4 - just T4 or Free T4. The latter is what you want to test as it is the unbound protein available for use. Check his basal body temp (under arm before rising). It should be 97.8 or higher. If it is not then suspect thyroid. My children are both hypothyroid and have been on medication since 4 & 7 yrs of age - they are now 8 & 11. The did so much better when they got on thyroid meds. The dosages for children are outlined in the new member document. They are according to what I have done with my own children. You should also be doing magnesium, selenium, vit c and let him just eat as much salt as he wants. I put out dipping cups and they eat out of the cups as they want. It's surprising how much they listen to their body's needs compared to us as adults. Steph Is TSH 4.270 high? Hello everyone, I am pretty new here. When I became a member few weeks ago, I checked my 7 y-o son's previous bloodwork (2010) and there his TSH was 4.270mIU/L (ref 0.4-4.20). In the same test, his T4 was 1.14 (ref 0.7-1.9). I did not know anything about thyroid back then and doctor did not say anything about it and we forgot about it. Couple days ago I saw a website that give 0.3 - 3.0 as a reference. My son has a low tone, his hands and feet always cold. We take a lot of supplement's suggested by a DAN doctor. However, I am thinking about starting an iodine protocol for him. We are already doing some organ support with milk thistle,sage,rosemary,ora-liv etc. and taking almost all of the companion nutrients because of his autism. Do you think it is ok to consider him hypo and try some iodine? I live in Turkey by the way and getting the tests you guys all talk about is not very easy to take here? thank you Ayse
Guest guest
Thanks StephIt is Free T4 value. So, I will definitely check his basal temp. And if it is Ok, can I just say " No need for iodine " ?AyseOn Tue, Mar 1, 2011 at 3:10 PM, ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...> wrote: Ranges for children are higher.
