why would you lower iodine for skin cancer? iodine is concentrated in

the skin and can only help. I think you have to take iron too.

Because the skin cancer became more prevalent as I increased my iodine and my iron.  Since I didn't know what had caused it, and several people here said maybe it was my body detoxing, I cut back.  Six new skin cancers was not an acceptable form of detox for me.

I think you need more iodine, like 100mg. I am not aware that cancer is

a detox symptom.

I couldn't abide the detox much above 50 mg.  My jaw was too painful to eat.  Not everyone does well with large amounts of iodine. On Fri, May 21, 2010 at 12:07 PM, Gracia <circe@...> wrote:

Skin cancers (if you are absolutely sure that’s

what it is) are not caused by detoxification. I am not convinced that every

side-effect/symptom that occurs while on iodine is from detoxification. For those with a predisposition to

cancer (any type), taking supplemental iron is not a good idea….even

though this is the first thing that some doctors offer for anemia. Instead try to up your levels with specific

foods. This will take some time so one

needs to be diligent. You may also want to try Floradix Iron and Herbs or Enzymatic Therapy

Liquid Liver along with the diet.

Foods

which are good sources of iron include free-range red meat, liver, chicken,

turkey, fish and seafood (cold water), organic dark leafy green vegetables (greens,

escarole, endive, etc.), raisins, molasses, dates and nuts. Foods which help your body absorb the

iron present in other foods include organic citrus fruits, organic fresh fruits

and fresh lightly cooked vegetables (do not overcook). Foods which make it

difficult for your body to absorb iron present in the diet include: tea,

coffee, caffeinated drinks, calcium supplements and antacids.

Include

high dose Vitamin C in your diet to bowel tolerance. Low Vitamin C levels can cause low

ferritin levels. Make sure you are

taking a good quality B-Complex and possibly extra B-6. Also use a high-quality liquid organic

multi-vitamin/mineral supplement. This

is foundational and everyone should at the very least be on an absorbable multi-vitamin/mineral

supplement.

Gluten intolerance and insufficient enzymes may also cause low ferritin levels.

Thank you so much!  I do eat a lot of what you recommended, and I stay away from the others you recommended.  I will look into the Floradix and Liquid Liver.  I take 3 g of C at a minimum every day, but I can slowly increase that.  I also take a good B complex and do B12 shots.  Incidentally, my B12 was higher than normal range.

I will try to increase my iodine again and see how my body fares.~WOn Fri, May 21, 2010 at 2:45 PM, Dr. Loretta Lanphier <drlanphier@...> wrote:

You are welcome!

Extra B-12 is stored in the liver and as long

as there is no under-lying illness going on, the high levels are most likely

ok. However, you may want to cut

back some on your shots and then do more testing in about 3 months. When supplementing (with shots or supplements)

you are looking for normal/balanced levels, not levels that are too high or too

low.

Also, when taking Vitamin C take in divided doses throughout the day.

If there is a possibility of absorption issues, which so many people have but

don’t know, it would be a good idea to pay attention to the stomach (make

sure you have enough acid for good digestion), liver and the intestinal

tract.

Is there anything on my CBC that shows my liver health?  I definitely split my C up all day long.  In fact, I set out a tray of vitamins every morning, and I take a handful every time I eat lol.  By the way, I got brave today and just took a smidge more iodine.  I know Steph always says take it before 2pm, but I could really use the extra energy for my workout class this evening, so I took it at 3.  :)

I'm pretty sure I don't have gut issues.  I take probiotics every day and very rarely have any intestinal distress.~WOn Fri, May 21, 2010 at 3:40 PM, Dr. Loretta Lanphier <drlanphier@...> wrote:
