Iodine and Hashimotos

Hi everyone,

Well it happened again yesterday, or over the weekend,

someone at this group published a quote from Brownstein saying people with

Hashimoto’s should not take Iodine or follow the Iodine Protocol and in

fact he mentions it in his book. Also I am reading “Why Do I Still Have

Thyroid Symptoms? by Kharrazian and he is emphatic about people with Hashimoto’s

not taking iodine, not even eating shrimp. I do seem to have thyroid

antibodies, or did in 2007, and I keep upping my dose of Iodoral to 50 mg but whenever

I do I read something negative about taking iodine in any way, shape or form.

When I tested my Thyroid a few weeks after I started on the Iodine Protocol my

TSH had gone up to 13.2 and my FT3 and FT4 were off. I haven’t tested

again because I don’t want to pay right now, so I can’t provide

current numbers. Can anyone provide a source of reliable information that is

positive for using iodine when you have Hashimoto’s to counter all this

negativity? I have to admit I am getting really concerned about continuing to

take my Iodoral.

Kris
