Guest guest
I just found that Shomon, who has written many books about thyroid disease, says that iodine is a problem for people with Hasimoto's or Graves. She says: "If you are truly iodine deficient, iodine may be able to help your thyroid. But for some people, iodine or iodine-containing products may worsen autoimmune thyroid problems, both Hashimoto's and Graves' disease, and cause enlargement of the thyroid (goiter). Before you start iodine, consider having urinary iodine measured to see if you have an actual deficiency, and pay close attention to any symptoms that develop after you start to take iodine." Dr. Hulda also warns Hashimoto people - or those who've had thyroiditis, that they might not be able to take much iodine - even though she otherwise recommends taking iodine as part of her cancer protocol. Guest guest
It is a misperception that iodine is bad for Hashi's people, or Graves. Dr Brownstein goes into a lot of detail about why these diseases are caused by deficiencies of iodine in his books. Anyone who says Hashi's or Graves ppl don't need iodine is unaware of the biological facts. Plus, we have several people on this list, one just yesterday, whose antibodies have reduced significantly and all the way to undetectable, by being on the iodine protocol. A lot of doctors and scientists are quoting iodine-phobic materials without understanding the real situation. That's what we're here to combat. We're here to present the real information, which is Dr Brownstein's work. -- >I just found that Shomon, who has written many books about thyroid >disease, says that iodine is a problem for people with Hasimoto's or Graves. > >She says: " If you are truly iodine deficient, iodine may be able to help >your thyroid. >But for some people, iodine or iodine-containing products may worsen >autoimmune thyroid problems, both Hashimoto's and Graves' disease, and >cause enlargement of the thyroid (goiter). Guest guest
I tried to say yesterday, perhaps not very eloquently, Shoman's information came from Dr. Brownstein in an interview she did with him. Someone on this site quoted the interview and in it Dr. Brownstein stated that iodine is harmful for people with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis and he wouldn't recommend it. If he doesn't feel it is harmful why is he saying things that are in direct opposition to his scientific data? Is he just protecting himself in case of lawsuits? Personally I will take it because my Iodine loading test showed an inadequacy (74% excreted) but the mixed message from Dr. Brownstein is very confusing and off putting when you line it up with people like Datis Kharrazian, Shomon, etc. because he is inline with their message of iodine being dangerous for people with Hashimoto's, not against. In the end the tests speak for themselves and we all must be tested to prove our results but it really does get expensive after awhile. > > Neither has done the biochemical research that Dr. Abraham, Dr. Brownstein, Dr Flechas and Dr. Derry have done. Guest guest
The fact that Dr Brownstein has changed on this is to his credit. The fact that most wouldn't demonstrates they learn nothing over time and are set in their ways. As to Shoman, I have consistently seen her side with the drug industry and the medical mafia. " ...worth their celtic salt... " LOL I love the saying! And agree. Bruce ----- Original Message ----- From: Kathleen Blake has said over and over again that this is an old interview and dr brownstein has learned differently now (read his book) and now does not believe what he said in the old interview. Doctors, if they are worth their celtic salt, learn and grow. ----- Original Message ----- From: kcpeterson55343 I tried to say yesterday, perhaps not very eloquently, Shoman's information came from Dr. Guest guest
I don't mean to be snotty, but duh! Does anyone actually read the files for this group anymore? Sorry but it's obvious that a lot of folks aren't taking the time to read through even the basic info. Or at least look through the post archives.LinnOn Mar 23, 2010, at 4:02 AM, Freedom Alternatives wrote: I just found that Shomon, who has written many books about thyroid disease, says that iodine is a problem for people with Hasimoto's or Graves. Guest guest
How do I make this more clear? That interview was in the early to mid 1990's before he started working on the iodine project where he did the research instead of taking the status quo information as truth. He had not done the research he has now to know that it is pure iodophobia with no truth to it. Here are my final words on the subject: Many many here have hashi's and have taken iodine with great results. My husband's antibodies completely disappeared when placed on the iodine protocol. The Center for Holistic Medicine where Dr Brownstein practices regularly advises patients with autoimmune thyroid disease to use Iodoral as part of their protocol. Do you think they would risk this if they thought it was harming patients in a VERY sue happy environment? I think not. What it comes down to it there are no guarantees in anything you do. You as an individual have to decide if it is something that you think is right for you. Only you can do that and that means that you must read the research - www.optimox.com , Dr. Brownstein's Iodine book, Dr. Derry's Iodine Book , the articles on www.iodine4health.com and whatever else you would like to read. Then from what you read you must sort out what you feel to be truths and take that information and determine what you will do with it. Beating the dead horse that Dr. Brownstein stated it was bad probably close to 15 years and now does not believe this will get you nowhere productive other than spinning your wheels. Guest guest
All I can say is that in spite of the side effects of the toxins leaving me, I feel so much better. I actually have energy and do not NEED coffee as much as I used to. I still love coffee, tho :-)DebbieFrom: ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...>Subject: Re: Re: Problems at low doseiodine Date: Tuesday, March 23, 2010, 1:02 PM How do I make this more clear? Guest guest
I have wondered why Dr. Brownstein hasn't asked to have the article removed, but I guess it is the property of Shomon. It really reflects badly on her I think. Gracia ladybugsandbees wrote: > > > How do I make this more clear?
