Guest guest
I don't see that anyone posted any opinions on this question and I am still curious, so I am reposting. > > Hi Steph, > This may be a bit long but I will try to keep to the main point as I would like an answer if possible. > I have been taking Iodoral for approx. 4 months almost 5. I have not been retested but my original iodine loading test done about 6 months ago had a result of 74% and my doctor put me on 12.5 mcg of Iodoral.I am currently on 100 mg of Iodoral but have done this on my own. > At around the same time I added more bio-identical hormones including E2 and E3, progesterone and testosterone as I was already using Estriol in a vaginal cream (I am post menopausal). > After I had a Thyroid panel done in January or February I discovered my TSH was 13.5 (normal for someone having just started Iodoral but my doctor freaked out) and my FT3 and FT4 were low but they had been low for about a year when Armour was reformulated. More than that when looking at my RT3 I had a ratio of 12 and I felt this explained a lot because I have always (probably 15-20 years on Thyroid meds) been unable to be fully treated whether it was Synthroid or dessicated thyroid (other than the original Armour). I could never increase without a great deal of discomfort. I started T3 only and have built up to 62.5 mcg of Cynomel. In order to go higher I have started Isocort approximately 9 pellets a day as my cortisol is low normal all day but okay at night. That was about 1 week ago. > > I have posted on here before so some of this may seem familiar but I have three questions. Does one somehow get T4 from iodine? It has been mentioned on the RT3 discussion. If T4 is produced as a reaction to Iodine intake is this a problem for a person who has a RT3 problem? And is Isocort really not necessary in your opinion for someone taking Iodoral? I keep wondering if given time the Iodoral would heal my overtaxed adrenals. > > Thanks so much, > Kris > > P.S. One more thing that was discussed and I took part in recently was the metallic mouth. Mine had gone away until I started on Isocort or something and now it is back with a vengeance. I wanted to know because I told her that the 100 mg dose had taken it away, now I am not so sure. >
