Guest guest
I won't touch soy or its products because it is usually Genetically modified, just like corn and any other kind of grain.Soy is not good for woman. Google it. from IllinoisFrom: adrienneobbard <adrienneobbard@...>iodine Sent: Thu, February 25, 2010 2:15:56 AMSubject: soya products Sorry, slightly off topic but related to thyroid. I was just wondering what people on here thought of soya? Seems to be an awful lots of controversy. Is it important to avoid it totally if you have hypo t? I have a vegetarian friend who clearly has overactive thyroid and only drinks soya and swears it is so good for you - masses of it and it's usually in aluminium packaging! Adrienne. Guest guest
Thanks. I have read quite a lot about it and most of it not good. I was just wondering what people on here thought. They promote it as being so good for menopausal women. I am certain it is playing havoc with my friends thyroid. My middle daughter also had it as a baby for a while as my milk dried up and she had severe dairy intolerance they told me to give her soya baby milk. I think she has thyroid problems - early and very troublesome puberty but ok now 22 and has allergies, migraine, sinus etc, sleeps very heavily. I think she needs iodine. Guest guest
I won't touch soy anymore, after going on a soy kick for about a year after it was recommended for menopausal women by health store worker---I ended up with Hashimotos, and have spent the last several years treating that.......There has been a lot of push for women to use soy----by the soy industry......it's a lie... After I found out about my Hashi's, I started reading about it (soy) and finding a lot of other people knew about negative relationship between thyroid and soy products.........once in a while I take something that may have soy as a small ingredient when other ingred. are more beneficial, but otherwise, I avoid soy.... Guest guest
Adrienne-- Everyone needs iodine in any case. But also, somehow soy got the right to special labeling claiming health benefits that really aren't warranted. The sources I have read over the last 10 years say that fermented soy is fine, unfermented should be avoided. Dr L here on Iodine list says that products extracted from soy, such as lecithin, do not have the negative impacts. If any soy is eaten, it should be organic which is the only hope of avoiding GMOs in soy. -- At 02:30 AM 2/26/2010, you wrote: >Thanks. Guest guest
Soy is like rat poison. It should be avoided like the plague. Probably comes with Bromine and is irradiated?Soy has a very large amount of estrogen with it, may be 10,000 times whatwould be in nature. Most is GMO, even the organic variety is dangerous, and it still may be irradiated, and of course a Monsanto flagship product. So is poisoned inside, and it will give you the RDA of roundup, for sure.It is our biggest export to China, and is payback for what they do to us. A lead paint cinch! It is not a food any more than canola oil or motor oil is.It is a tumor causing agent. Asians eat it sparingly, and only fermented. These soy-heads are the people propagating the lies about coconut oil.Soy will give you tumors, breast and prostate cancers, not so coconut oil.I wouldn't touch Iodine if I found it came from that soy crap! Find another source.Soy as a GMO is like finding aspartame in vaccines, I suppose. Why take the risk? She needs to eliminate the soy, and get some iodine/vitamin D3 help for sure.Just passed a gallstone last night, myself.Dennis >Thanks. Guest guest
Adrienne,My chiropractor/GP is Japanese. She said they eat fermented nonGMO soy in small quantities but didn't want me doing even that with my thyroid and detox issues. Say it simply that it isn't healthy for her. Give her the details but also some alternatives like coconut milk or almond milk. Soy is replaceable. Just takes change.
