What happens when you take like 2 table spoons of sea salt or Redmond's Rweal Salt?

It's one thing to read posts about detox symptoms; another entirely to experience them! I started Lugols 2%, went from 1 to 5 drops/daily over the course of last 2 1/2 weeks. Until yesterday doing fine. Yesterday I woke up with a rash covering me from kneecaps to neck. It doesn't itch, just red and splotchy. I'm not sure if this is detox or if something else is going on.Today I cut back to 1 drop, so we'll see what happens. But in the meanwhile, I have read posts re: salt loading when you experience detox. I checked Files, but couldn't find instructions. Sorry to repeat an oft asked question, but could somebody explain to me how to do the salt?Thank you.Beverly

It is a lot of salt, but since it is the raw salt, it should be OK to take. I was just wondering how taking a lot affects your detox symptoms.

Well salt loading is 1/4 to 1/2 tsp doses until copious urination so it depends on the person how much salt it takes for that to happen. I normally take a base of 3/4 to 1 tsp per day to make sure I am getting enough salt in general, so really it has only taken me 1/2 tsp to get to that copious urination stage in the past. Lately I have been taking 1 1/4 tsp per day in general without doing any loading on top of that and my body is responding well to that amount without any excess urination.

1/2 tsp per day isn't salt loading. That is supplementing.

This is the salt loading protocol. http://www.naturalthyroidchoices.com/SaltAdrenal.html

Your MD is wrong. It isn't the salt. What else are you taking - supplement wise?

salt loading

I have been doing the pulsing with the iodine for about 3 months because of detox systems I get from taking prolamine iodine. I have been doing the salt protocol twice a day with a 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt. I can only get up to 2 prolamine iodine for 3 days before I start having the detox systems. Each prolamine iodine is 3mg. I have been thinking of changing over to lugols. I am praying that I can handle that better. Has anyone else here ever tried the prolamine iodine?I started having terrible muscle aches. All my joints started feeling inflamed. My fingers, wrist, hips, knees I just ached all over. My MD told me to stop the salt loading. Even when I would stop the iodine I would keep doing the salt loading. I thought the salt loading was to help get all this out of my body. Has anyone else ever had this reaction from salt loading. I think my MD is just trying to figure me out & is not really up to date on iodine.Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

The iodine protocol includes:

100-200 mcg Selenium

200 - 400 mgs Magnesium

3,000 - 5,000 mgs vit C

1/2 tsp Unrefined Salt

I don't see these values in your list. If you took these it may help you deal with this better. You may want to up your dandelion to 10 drops 2x / day. You can try adding or swapping out dandelion root for milk thistle and see if that is better.

i had pain like this before (last year). i will say i also had out my thyroid. my feet and legs. upper leg, bottom leg, top of foot, arch, toes.. i couldn't stretch my leg or foot when in bed, went right into a cramp. agonizing and constant. my knees ached. i was just achy all over. i started with the magnesium and selenium and the cramps stopped. i think having my thyroid out helped some too, but if i could get that sucker back, i would. make sure you drink enough water also. diane, near philly, pa On May 26, 2010, at 8:07 PM, ladybugsandbees wrote:The iodine protocol includes: 100-200 mcg Selenium200 - 400 mgs Magnesium3,000 - 5,000 mgs vit C1/2 tsp Unrefined Salt I don't see these values in your list. I'm confused about how long and how often one does the salt loading. I read

somewhere that you shouldn't do it every day, but rarely find a site that says

anything about how long.

Can detox take weeks? months? because in these cases, wouldn't you need to

continue salt loading?

Newbie question... The detox pathways? Kidneys/liver? Is that why all the talk about liver cleansing?

I feel like I'm a mess. I just found out I have lead poisioning on top of bromide issues! Tammy McClellan

The salt loading is just for immediate symptoms. Say this morning you took iodine and all the supplements and you got a terrible headache and brain fog. You take the salt loading, and keep repeating today, until the headache and fog goes away. That shows you have cleared it out.

You do this whenever you have detox symptoms. But if your detoxification pathways are clear, you won’t experience detox symptoms because it will clear out quickly on its own. So you can detox without symptoms if your pathways are clear.

It is generally recommended that if you have to salt load 5 days in a row, you need to back down on the iodine and take steps to clear up your detox pathways.

Yes, detox can take weeks, months, years. Don’t confuse the salt supplementing with salt loading. See my post of earlier today from the “New member files†that lists both things. They are different!

You take salt daily; however if you are having trouble detoxifying ( headaches , etc) the you do the Salt Loading Protocol. Its number 7 under Commonly asked Questions. It tells you how to do it there. Kathleen

If you have to do the salt loading more than 3 - 4 days then you should back off on the iodine because you are detoxing too much.
