Tammy,

Please google Andy Cutler's method of chelation/heavy metal detox. You have to be very careful when detoxing heavy metals b/c of re-distribution. His method is based on very low levels of DMSA administerd every 3-4 hours around the clock for several days, then taking days off to let your body recover. DMSA almost acts as a magnet and grabs the metals and escorts them from your body. But it only has a shelf life of 3-4 hours (can't remember which) and if you just give one big dose, the DMSA canl go 'grab' the metal and just 'let go' when it wears off and that's when it can re-distribute into your fatty tissue (brain, liver, etc).

This is a VERY rudimentary explanation, which is why you should google it, there are even groups out there that specialize on this method of chelation. One of them is moderated by Andy Cutler himself.

You could do yourself more harm than good with the amount and application that your doctor prescribed. As someone said on here earlier, he's in the right church, but in the wrong pew :)

Thanks, Greg for your third party opinion, because both my mom and my husband feel it is in vain to help Dad at this point…………and that is basically what they and hospice are saying. I appreciate your honesty.

Although, I am detoxing from metals now and feel awful too! I should still do it anyway, right…..even though you are talking ‘brain’ and ‘kidney’ issues. Do you have a link about “properly conjugated in a form to assure their safe elimination†? I guess I don’t know what you mean there. Thanks, Tammy

Tammy,Heavy metal detoxification possesses it's own dangers. It's a complex and potentially dangerous therapeutic protocol. DMSA may chelate metals, however there's no guarantee that these metals once chelated might not end up in brain or kidney tissue, doing more harm than good. Once metals are chelated they need to be properly conjugated in a form to assure their safe elimination.I think it might be of value to throughly research "heavy metal detoxification protocols" before embarking on a therapeutic program. This is an area I haven't thoroughly enough researched to offer more detailed insights. Perhaps another group member with more experience might be able to guide you in a safe direction. And there's always Google. . .Greg >> ,> > > > My Dad has Hypothyroidism, yes. I only "realized" what was going on with> him when I realized what was going on with me.
