Re: Environmental toxins and Thyroid health - Iodine to the Rescue?

I had a 4000 gallon #2 diesel spill 10 feet from my kitchen in the snowbanks all winter in Northern Alaska where winter lasts nearly 9 months. The workers wore respirators and rubber suits and changed off every 4 hours but my family was exposed with no offers of assistance/or plan B.So I know that feeling of being poisoned. My brother in law worked for OSHA and their hand book had 4 pages on this #2 diesel of health impacts that I read later. If you know the name, likely you will find some answers to it online in similar places.

Can you avoid being home when it is sprayed? I would take the iodine but also bentonite internally to deal with it. Also the metagenic ultraclear ph shake would be a good way to have your liver healthy so detox is as available as possible. Pam

I ask because I am currently dealing with a possible aerial spraying of my neighborhood with a pesticide in late Spring 2011 (airplane). They do two separate sprays a week apart.

I have read there may be issues with lungs, skin, eyes and quite possibly endocrine with this btk containing FORAY product.

I need info quick. How do I even research? Google thyroid disease caused by pesticides? This particular pesticide is fairly new - 20 years and no followup or long term health research is being conducted. Just immediate er visits by handlers.

Could many of our issues be due to pesticides? Who knows?

They are willing to risk my health, that of my family, friends and neighbors to slow the spread of a moth. HELP!

Would I just begin taking 100 mgs immediately during the spraying to offset any response? Thanks so much.

I would suggest:Get one or more HEPA air filters for the house, to remove as many of the contaminants from the indoor air as possible. (Even with the windows closed, air DOES come into the house.) Even a lousy house-keeper like myself might be inclined to do some extra dusting & vacuuming with a HEPA vacuum cleaner, because some of the stuff will fall out of the air on dust.Do not allow anybody to wear their shoes or outerwear into the house. (Seriously, you bring more crud into the house with you than you think you do. In hay fever season, I have the toughest time getting my husband to wash his hair after working in the yard, even though he sometimes has hay fever. He always admits afterwards that he feels better after a shower & shampoo, but he still tends to resist.) If possible & practical, have family members shower right after they come inside. And don't let the kids play outside for a while. If they will do so, have family members wear dust masks outside for a while. (If nothing else, this might be good for starting conversations with your neighbors about the toxic spraying!) Even people who don't normally wear hats & scarves should wear them to help keep the stuff off hair & skin. Then wash the outerwear frequently.Increase everybody's doses of vitamin C & other detoxifiers, to help your body rid itself of the toxins, & work at extra liver support. If you can get more info on the poison, that might suggest some other supplement. If it is fluorine-based, that might suggest more iodine.I am not saying that any of this stuff will protect you 100%, but it should greatly reduce your exposure. And it will give you a sense that you have some power over the situation. (Helplessness undermines your health, too.)Does this stuff have a known half-life or period of persistence in the environment, so you know how long you need to maintain your vigilance? Is there any chance of fomenting rebellion in the neighborhood? Petitions? Angry letters to the authorities in charge?Good luck.AnneOn Feb 13, 2011, at 8:07 AM, mzookiej wrote: Is there data supporting the use of Iodine to help the body with pesticides? If the pesticide is not bromide-based, it's very likely to be

chlorine-based (organochlorines), so in either case iodine will help detox

and protect.

Barb, which FORAY product is it? There is lots of information about FORAY 48B on

the web:
