Guest guest
Hello Loren, I go to a practitioner that is just great in Hot Springs, SD. He uses a biophoton pad, so you can have 4 treatments per day, 2 hrs apart. I had NAET treatments back in MI where I used to live about 8 yrs ago without much success...but after starting the iodine, I started to get results then. The iodine made the difference in the success of the NAET treatments. Guest guest
What is the usual separation time between iodine and vit C? Are there any other vitamins or supplements that should not be taken along with the iodine? On Sun, Mar 14, 2010 at 6:58 AM, D Ann <angelport@...> wrote: I can chip in here, from an experiential perspective. I recently began responding to weather fronts in a way I hadn't noticed before. Not only was I having the joint swelling and pain that so many suffer from with barometric changes, but also began to get massive sinus pressure, drainage and inflammation. It got so bad, during the first major storm in Dec that I thought my eardrums would burst and had an enormous amount of pain for that and the body aches. Yet, I was confident that this wasn't a virus; it happened only when there was a storm front moving thru. When it hit for the second storm, I was desperate to avoid the extremes of the previous experience. I did some mental tallying and deduction, and realized that the sinus symptoms were likely a RESULT of inflammation. Not inflammation as a result of too much mucus production, etc. (The pressure arrived before the drainage; this opposite from my usual experience with sinus issues.) So, perhaps INFLAMMATION was the primary issue. So, I did some digging around and came up with some short-term, quick response remedies for this weather-dependent inflammation:**green tea with ginger added (when not sipping this, I sip the water mix detailed below) **MSM (I take 4grams 2x/day, so I upped it to an additional 2grams every 4 hours in between the regular doses) If you don't regularly take MSM, try 1gram every 4-6 hours**whole oranges, peeled but with the pith left on (peel the orange part off with a knife, but leave the white spongy layer on; eat together with the rest of the orange.) **ascorbic acid with sodium bicarb (this can be obtained, for convenience' sake, by using Alka Seltzer Gold - it is baking soda and ascorbic acid with no other additives - follow directions on pkg!) **extra magnesium (I prepare a mix of 20-30oz water + powdered mag 1tsp + powdered ascorbic acid 1tsp + baking soda 1tsp, add a dash of lemon juice after stirring well and waiting for the fizzing to stop) All of these are specifically designed to fight inflammation rather quickly. The ascorbic acid + bicarb is surprisingly effective; I don't use the water mix with bicarb when using the Alka Seltzer Gold. The water mix is what I drink all the time, substituting 1/4-1/2 tsp celtic sea salt for the sodium bicarb for the daily use. The extra MSM and mag also have the benefit of helping with constipation. I also tend to eat things like cabbage and beets during this time, with seasonings like ginger and turmeric on the cabbage either in a dressing with olive oil or on the cooked cabbage. This also fights inflammation and eases constipation. It surprised me to discover that this 'bad weather diet' not only had fast results and lowered ALL of my symptoms, but starting it when the weather front was headed my way but BEFORE the symptoms started actually prevented most or all of the symptoms. I no longer dread the storms! No doubt, someone here can provide a great deal of detailed scientific explanation for each and every one of these steps, but what matters to me most is that it works! I'm guessing that using these items together also creates a synergystic effect, increasing the benefit over using only one of these remedies. I recently passed this info along to my step daughter, who couldn't understand why she was getting sinus headaches in January. When we discovered that they coincided with storms, I suggested this 'bad weather diet' and she reported that it worked for her, too. Interestingly, mercury has a direct association with inflammation, as does magnesium deficiency.Because I take the Iodoral tablet, there is no conflict with using the ascorbic acid mix or the Alka Seltzer Gold all thru the day. If using Lugol's, observe the regular separation between iodine and vit C consumption. D'Ann >> A number of years ago I went to a chiropractor who had conducted his own research on the movement of heavy metals on various weather fronts. His findings were startling because they reflected my own experiences so precisely. One item I remember is that mercury is carried on the leading edge of a front, and aluminum on the back side (don't know if I'm using the correct terminology, but I haven't dug out the paper). This would explain why my symptoms -- constipation in particular -- get worse in bad weather. > > I have recently been able to reduce my Iodoral from 200 to 150 mg due to an endocrine supplement I am taking, but on days like this with the storm clouds lowering, I need to increase the dose again. And add extra magnesium. And it still doesn't help. I am about to give up on going out this evening. Bummer. > > Anyone care to weigh in with similar experiences? Guest guest
Does the Sulfur content of the MSM interfere with thyroid hormones? I have MSM, but I've been reluctant to use it because of the sulfur content. Sulfur and couple of other things in cabbage, and broccoli and so forth interfere with thyroid hormones. But maybe the chemical composition of MSM makes it a non issue since MSM is a derivative of DMSO? Where do you get your magnesium powder? I've been looking for some:) Sorry, not grilling you, LOL. I'm just curious and short on time this morning:) Bethann " The greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance...it is the illusion of knowledge " ~ Hawking D Ann wrote: > > > I can chip in here, from an experiential perspective. Guest guest
ascorbic acid was taken by a friend of ours, a doctor, who died 3 times from the ascorbic acid. He is doing betternow but a good thing he has a wife who knows what to do under the circumstances. He said he only took about1/4th tsp a day for 3 months when he started to bleed. I do not know, I only take food products. I will definitely keep this on hand. It never occurred to me that a "bad weather episode" could actually be PREVENTED. It's interesting that you deduced that inflammation was actually the culprit in your sinus trouble before and during a storm. Sinuses are not my issue; I am trying to understand how inflammation applies in my case. One thing I would change for myself is to use the ascorbic acid/baking soda mix rather than Alka-Seltzer. Just don't use prepared products very much. Any idea what the ratios would be of each item in a mixture? I would also skip the green tea, as any amount of caffeine is a problem for me, esp. late in the day; and the oranges, as I have trouble with citrus apart from lemon juice. Is the idea to add extra antioxidants, bioflavinoids, and C? If so, can you suggest substitutions? Guest guest
It's rumors like this that are going to get supplements banned and under heavy legislation. Orthomolecular.org and hundreds of other reputable organizations, nobel prize winning scientests and thousands of others report NO deaths due to supplements. But millions will die due to false rumors and such. Ascorbic acid through history has saved thousands of lives and prevented millions from serious disease. Guest guest
if this were a Pharma product the first announcement would be that he died from underlying causes. But 3 times? Really what does this report mean? Guest guest
I would assume that means his heart stopped and he was resuscitated, and then his heart stopped again and he was resuscitated again, and then his heart stopped a third time and he was resuscitated a third time. My mother used to work in a nursing home and she told me about patients who died and came back several times before they finally passed on.
