Guest guest
Her labs look pretty good to me.How does she feel? and how is her temperature. My fibrocystic breasts went to normal in about 4 months time. This was 3 years ago for me. I would continue what she is doing. The bromide from inhalers may take her longer but she should have similar results. Is she doing magnesium, vit C, real salt, selenium and possibly a B complex to help with detox? Those do make a difference. I had 4 lumps that became obvious when I cleared these fibrocystic lumps up-2-3 years later. Thermography and then ultrasounds showed them to be okay but watch them. Wish you well. I have recently cut my thyroid dose in half at my doctors suggestion. Also thermography shows half my thyroid working and the other half taking a nap.Pam On Sun, Feb 6, 2011 at 10:00 AM, Deborah H <deborahhall63@...> wrote: My daughter, 20 y-o with fibrocystic breasts, is asythmatic (yes, bromides from inhaler) and has been on the iodine protocol for about 3 months at 50 mgs of iodoral/day (and all supplements). Guest guest
She doesn't have a temperature. She feels fine. Well, wait, she's always cold. Or rather, she's always complaining that I keep the house too cold. Guest guest
She needs to take her temp. There are charts on www.drrind.com that could help you figure this out. Even a few days would give you good information to go on.I was always cold with hypo but these days am always hot and it is in 40s or so outside so go out and cool off or throw off the covers. I used to have frozen feeling toes and fingers and all the rest the hypo signs but not currently. So I hope that iodine helps her with that too. Guest guest
Just want to redirect attention to the original question: is high T3 Reverse (33, in her case) indicative of taking iodine? I ask because I remember a conversation some time ago where that one of the temporary results of getting iodine into the system is that one of the labs increases sharply. And, that, whichever it is, will eventually return to normal. Or so I remember vaguely. Guest guest
Hi Deborah,It is the TSH that can temporarily go up. High Reverse T3 is a symptom of liver congestion. You would want to take supplements that help the liver process the toxins out. just posted about this recently, you could do an archive search for the past month. Guest guest
Hi Donna, When TSH goes up, does it have the accompanying hypo complications(even if they are subclinical, like infertility or depression, which then subside once TSH normalizes? Also, if one is on daily high-dose iodine, it seems the TSH would be continually elevated. How do we sort this out, or is the TSH ot a true reading of blood levels when on iodine? Thanks Marcy > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > My daughter, 20 y-o with fibrocystic breasts, is asythmatic (yes, > > > bromides > > > > > from inhaler) and has been on the iodine protocol for about 3 months at > > > 50 > > > > > mgs of iodoral/day (and all supplements). > > > > > > > > > > I need some help with her lab results. > > > > > > > > > > TSH, 3rd gen. 1.3 [.4-4.5] > > > > > T4, Free 1.3 [.8-1.8] > > > > > T3, Free 3.3 [2.3 - 4.1] > > > > > T3 Reverse 33 [11 - 32] > > > > > > > > > > I'm just wondering if the high T3 is indicative that she's taking > > > iodine > > > > > (too much, perhaps). Guest guest
Hi Marcy, Here is what is says in the new member doc: 1. Thanks My TSH went up on Iodine – This is a common occurrence when a person starts to take iodine after being deficient. The body increases TSH to stimulate production of thyroglobulin which is used to bind to the iodine in thyroid hormone production. Individuals can have TSH levels as high as 75 for up to 6 months without clinical signs of hypothyroidism. The best values to check with labs if there is a concern are the Free T3 and Free T4. You will find in most cases that the “frees” are nicely within the ranges. It does not have hypo complications, most people feel good, it is just the body readjusting. TSH is not measuring iodine levels, it is actually your pituitary gland sending out thyroid stimulating hormone – to tell your thyroid to work. Free T3 and free T4 measure how well your thyroid is working. Guest guest
Your daughter's free T3 is fine; it's her reverse T3 that is high, and that is not fine. It needs to be cleared out by taking Cytomel (straight T3). She will feel a whole lot better when she does and along with the iodine, her problems should correct themselves. Also, a liver detox wouldn't be a bad idea. > > > > > > > My daughter, 20 y-o with fibrocystic breasts, is asythmatic (yes, bromides > > from inhaler) and has been on the iodine protocol for about 3 months at 50 > > mgs of iodoral/day (and all supplements). > > > > I need some help with her lab results. > > > > TSH, 3rd gen. 1.3 [.4-4.5] > > T4, Free 1.3 [.8-1.8] > > T3, Free 3.3 [2.3 - 4.1] > > T3 Reverse 33 [11 - 32] > > > > I'm just wondering if the high T3 is indicative that she's taking iodine > > (too much, perhaps). Guest guest
Thank you so much. Apologies for not knowing that was in New Member Docs. When I first joined, I read it, but it meant nothing to me. I think I had to be involved in the protocol long enough to need that info. Think I'll reread the files. Guest guest
High RT3 is an indication of stress, poor diet (refined"s"), high cortisol, and toxic liver. You need to support the systems that are low and clean up the diet. I had high RT3 and took Dr. Brownstein's TLC product www.purezenhealth.com to help clean it up. My RT3 came down almost 100 pts in 6 weeks. Daughters's T3, Reverse Level My daughter, 20 y-o with fibrocystic breasts, is asythmatic (yes, bromides from inhaler) and has been on the iodine protocol for about 3 months at 50 mgs of iodoral/day (and all supplements).
