Guest guest
Welcome a, While you were taking Lugol's, were you taking unrefined Celtic Sea Salt and the other companion nutrients? Drinking plenty of pure water ( at least half your body weight in ounces daily) Have you tested your adrenals? If you felt better on the salt, it appears your adrenals really need to be addressed. Taking drugs to increase your blood pressure? hmmmm, I personally would be wary of that. Celtic salt is helpful in balancing ones blood pressure. Just a thought. Again, read all you can on our site, and look into how your adrenals are doing, they sound like they need help. Kathleen Iodine and high puls Hi,perhaps someone here has some hints and recommendations that could help me, or could benefit from my experiences so far.Since I'm new here, let me describe my situation in a few words. A couple of years ago, I got severe neurological attacks and MS symptoms (no MS) after eating a lot of sea fish. Taking iodine suddenly became a big problem for me, even a grain of sea salt caused neurological problems.I decided to have a part of my thyroid surgically removed, since my doctor had recommended this already during the past years, independently of my new problem. The thyroid operation did not help. Even with large amounts of T3 and T4, I suffered from the typical CFS / POTS symptoms, without knowing any reason or a having a clear diagnosis. 2 years later, in the year 2010, I got a CFS diagnosis from a specialist. During the last months I needed to stay in bed (i.e. in horizontal position) most of the time.Paradoxically, I found out that taking large amounts of sea salt now allowed me almost normal activity. But I could not continue with taking that much sea salt since I got intestine problems from it.My conclusiong was that perhaps the iodine in the sea salt was responsable for the amelioration and I tried to the take Lugol iodine solution. Appearently this was too much since my pulse got extremely high (heart racing). Very recently I'm now experimenting with smaller amounts of iodine (eg 50 mcg a day).My hythesis at the moment is that the fish I ate contained too much bromine that my body could not eliminate over time. The main problem at the moment is that I get a quite high puls (eg 140) as soon as I'm walking s short distance, or even standing up, combined with continously low blood pressure (eg 100/60). My heart itself has no anomalies. I now started to take a Midodrine medicament that increases the blood pressure without increasing the puls. This seems to help to a certain degree. My question is: Do you have any experience with these symptoms, especially in the iodine/bromine/thyroid hormons context? Thanks and regards,a
Guest guest
Thanks, Kathleen, for your warm welcome and your hints. I have now started to take magnesium chloride together with a higher amount of iodide and this seems to have a quite positive effect, which could be explained by the brom hypothesis. I'm also taking a couple of other food supplements, recommended for CFS, since a longer period of time. Hoping that I'll be able to report more positive news about this approach in a few weeks, a > > Welcome a, > While you were taking Lugol's, were you taking unrefined Celtic Sea Salt and the other companion nutrients? Guest guest
Would someone please explain why it's ok to take/use magnesium chloride, but not sodium chloride? What's the difference? Guest guest
Great question, Gwen.Just my understanding, someone else welcome to chime in if I haven't got it right. With sodium chloride, its NOT so much whats IN it, i.e.'chloride' as whats NOT in it; the 60+ trace minerals that are taken out in processing. I also recall something about how chloride is not always bad, in the way that floride or bromide is.Maybe its 'bound' in certain configurations or something?Jim > > Would someone please explain why it's ok to take/use magnesium chloride, but not sodium chloride? Guest guest
don't we also take sodium chloride ie salt? one is salt and one is magnesium. Guest guest
They are two different things. Sodium Chloride is what we call salt and magnesium chloride is a magnesium supplement. Salt. Magnesium. They are different entities with different properties. Sounds like you might be focusing on the fact that they both have chloride atoms in their make-up. Don't think of them as two forms of chloride but instead, two different substances. > > > > Welcome a, > > While you were taking Lugol's, were you taking unrefined Celtic Sea Salt and the other companion nutrients?
