Weight Gain/Detox Issues with Iodine

I've posted several times seeking help for the weight gain I experienced right after I started using Lugol's early this year. A few weeks ago, I started taking methyl B12, chlorella, coriander and yellow dock, and after only five days or so, I could tell that I was losing weight. That was very encouraging, although the weight loss hasn't continued at the fast pace I had hoped for considering how quickly I saw results, at least I'm making progress.I was just wondering if anyone might know which of the supplements I mentioned might be the key to the weight loss/flushing out the toxins.Thanks,Sherry

Steph,

I've been taking milk thistle with dandelion and coconut oil for several months

and neither helped with the detox/weight gain. I know coconut oil can help with

weight loss by speeding the metabolism (I think), but it certainly didn't help

me to lose weight.

Nothing started helping until I used the methy B12, chlorella, coriander and

yellow dock. I started them all on the same day, so I'm not sure which is/are

key. I was just wondering so that if it's really only one that is responsible, I

don't have to keep taking/buying all four. The amount of supplements I take each

day is overwhelming.

It doesn't help me lose weight. What has helped me to stop gaining weight is dealing with insulin resistance. I am able to take iodine w/o gaining weight. I do not have to monitor my diet closely either. I used to gain 5-7 lbs in 1 or 2 days easily. Now I do not. So it may be a blood sugar issue for many since the liver is tied in with glucose too. It's all so complex and what works for one may not for another.

We found my IR by testing my fasting glucose and A1c levels.

Steph...I thought you said that you gained weight with iodine for what appears

to be the same reason I did...High toxicity and not being able to efficiently

push them out?

Or maybe there is more than one reason for the weight gain, for both of us...How

much coconut oil do you use each day?

I thought that was the reason too but then I started playing around with various things and when I eliminated iodine the weight continued to come on for me. It was just worse with iodine. So I don't know...

I don't take dandelion root and coconut oil right now. I am using some other stuff for a protocol for my blood sugar.

My weight situation did not improve when I stopped iodine either. But taking the

supplements I mentioned definitely had an effect, so it does seem that not being

able to flush out toxins was relevant to my weight gain. I started lose weight

very quickly, just like I gained it very quickly when I started iodine.

I don't have the ability to do testing right now. Could you suggest how much

coconut oil I might try in case I have a similar situation to yours? Coconut oil

won't hurt me, right? I'm only taking about one tablespoon each day.

There is a professor at UCLA med school who teaches about diabetes  that uses this diet with his patients to reverse early type 2 diabetes like mine was. He has used this diet successfully for decades. You don't count calories on this but do limit what you eat. 

It takes 2-4 months to rest the pancreas of doing this diet perfectly to heal. My fasting glucose rate was way over a hundred and stays around 80 these days. I lost 35 pound on this diet in a year or so. My body is typically quite resistant to weight loss but down 70 pounds finally. Pam

Meats and Fish: All meats except cold cuts that contain sugars. All fowl and game. All fish and shellfish.Dairy Products:

Desserts:Sugar-free Jell-O, Custard (made with cream and artificial sweetener).

Drinks: Club soda, Decaffeinated coffee, Weak or decaffeinated tea, Caffeine-free diet sodas, Alcohol (Bourbon, cognac, gin, rum, scotch, vodka, dry wine after a month on the diet).

Condiments and spices:All spices including seeds (fresh or dried), All imitation flavorings, Horseradish, Sugar-free sauces such as hollandaise, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup;Sugar-free salad dressings; Oil and vinegar (all types);

Worcestershire sauce.Miscellaneous: All fats; Caviar; Tofu;Dr. Atkins diet Advantage snack bars (all of them); Ultimate Lo Carb Protein Bar w/Stevia. 

FOODS TO AVOID STRICTLY:

Alcohol (Most hypoglycemics can tolerate one drink after 2 months on the diet - individual tolerance levels vary), Baked beans, Refried beans, Black-eyed peas (cow peas), Chickpeas (garbanzo beans), Bananas, Lentils, Lima beans, Potatoes, Corn, Dried fruits, Fruit juices, Barley, Rice, Pasta (all types), Corn tortillas, Flour tortillas, Tamales, Sweets of any kind, Products which contain: Dextrose, Glucose, Hexitol, Maltose, Sucrose, Honey, Fructose, Corn Syrup or Starch, Caffeine.

I'm not sure if you mean " hurt " in terms of weight or in some other way,

but whatever you're concerned about, I think the answer would be no. At

least it has only been good for me in every way. I've been eating over

1 lb of c.o. per week for a few years now and, among other things, am

slim and have an exceptional high level for my " good cholesterol " -- 93.

 I find it's not only the supplements - it's all the water I take in by the time I have my vitamins, put lugol's in a bit of water, mix vit C in water, take a mitochondrial supplement in water, drink my coconut oil, Chinese herb tea, etc etc I'm then running to the toilet every ten mins. for the next hour or so!

I think it's in Eat Fat Lose Fat they give quantities based on body weight.   For about 60 kgs it was 2 tblsp either 2x or 3x a day.   I can't remember if it was just before breakfast and dinner or if it was also before lunch.   But you have to start with smaller quantities. e.g. 1/2 tblsp max. and then work up or you may get nausea.   

I don't have the ability to do testing right now. Could you suggest how much coconut oil I might try in case I have a similar situation to yours? Coconut oil won't hurt me, right? I'm only taking about one tablespoon each day.

And what is even worse is leaving home for overnight or longer...Having to bring

all of the supplements, coconut oil, Lugol's, magnesium oil...And I live in

Florida with oppressive heat, so you can't leave anything in the car for any

length of time...What an ordeal!

Since everyone’s body reacts differently, I would think you

would have to eliminate one for a couple of weeks, see the results, then add

that back in and eliminate another one.

A doctor friend of mine who follows the Weston Price principles

recommends at least 6 Tbls. per day!

Also, there is a Book out called Eat Fat, Lose Fat by Sally Fallon. It

talks a lot about the use of coconut oil and coconut products for

health and weight loss, and nourishing the thyroid gland (I believe).

Maybe this would be helpful. I have the book but have not read it all

the way through yet.

apparently corriander ferrets out mercury and chlorella escorts it out of the

body ...maybe getting rid of some mercury has allowed your body to let go of

fat?
