Guest guest
Not all of the 50mg of Iodine leaves your body in a 24hr period. This is why it is difficult to reach 90% recovery. Also, it has been proven that ~10% of Iodine can be found in feces/sweat which is NOT accounted for in a loading test. Try a Iodine spot test on urine collected after finishing the loading test. Compare this value to your baseline Iodine levels (off iodine supplementation for around a week). I think you will be surprised with how much Iodine from the 50mg dose is still present. Do a spot test before the loading test to make sure your body doesn't have high levels of iodine (from previous supplementation?) that can tack on to the 50mg dose. Hope this helps explain why 100% is not probable. -Zed
Guest guest
Hi Cheryl & Steph,I have been there also. I got a 105% excretion in my Feb test. I did have a 50.9mg/L of bromide excretion. I do no have multivits, but I do have food rich in iodine like eggs, milk and meat (I raise it) so there is the extra 5%. My sister recently got tested, she lives in a different city. She doesn't have any food like me, neither previous iodine supplementation as I did and she tested 105% excretion with 32mg/L of bromide. I asked her to be very careful about measuring and avoiding any iodine food intake for a week previous taking the test. I probably clogged myself my symporters with a low dose of iodine 25-37mg. After the test I increased to 75mg. She is on 50mg starting from zero. We both are having 3gr vit C sustained release and ATP cofactors seem to be very helpful also (I have 2-2x, she 1-2x). My sister and I have a mild vit B leakage. From: ladybugsandbees <ladybugsandbees@...>iodine Sent: Mon, June 7, 2010 8:52:20 PMSubject: Re: Test Results - looking for opinions My hunch is that you have blocked symporters with bromide. Since your bromide levels are quite high it looks like the iodine is not getting into the cells. You could also have a symporter issue. Are you taking Vit C? That is what heals symporters - you need 3 grams or more / day. I don't know how to read DDI's labs. 7% doesn't tell me anything - 7% of what? If I were in your shoes I would try to increase my iodoral dose and see if you can get that bromide out. My experience has been that it can take 50 mgs or more to get it moving out. I have not seen anyone with 100% excretion that didn't make a mistake and take iodine close to the test or take a product that has iodine in it like a multi. Steph Test Results - looking for opinions Hi All, I have my results from the Hakala Research lab. This is the first time using Hakala labs so I am not sure how comparing Doctor's Data works. Last summer Doctor's Data had excretion rate 67% and Bromide rate 7%. This June's result:100% excretion rate32.7 mg Bromide excreted where should be < 10 mg. I'm surprised at the 100% excretion rate. Anyone else get 100% excretion rate?I am taking 25 mg / day. I quit taking Ioderol over 48 hours prior to taking this test. I did not take salt whtn I took the 50 mg. Thank you for your input. Guest guest
Hi - I've been thinking about this. I talked with Hakala labs and they pretty much just gave me a description and no suggestions. But here's my question. If I excreted all the iodine, how did so much bromide get displaced? Shouldn't the iodine molecules have taken the place of the bromide molecules? If the iodine didn't take their place and the bromide got kicked out, what's in the receptor site? - how would you clog your symporters with 25 - 37.5 mg dose? I start getting detox symptoms with the 37.5 mg dose and I'm not that comfortable increasing to 50 . Thanks - Cheryl > > Hi Cheryl & Steph, > > I have been there also. Guest guest
You could have non-functioning symporters due to the poisoning. You need high doses of Vit C to heal them. I think you can google "Optimox Vitamin C Symporters " and you will find the article on this. Guest guest
Cheryl,I felt very confused when I got my results also. I was fully certain that I was low in iodine but not excreting all of it. That was a shock, especially when I never ever eat junk food in my life (I was an athlete), I avoid all .... etc, etc, etc. I was not feeling bad, except that I was starting feeling tired all time and lacking focus (bromide symptoms), starting a lot of projects and making little progress on each. I started iodine at 12.5mg, I felt some of my energy back but was not quite enough. I increased to 25mg and have detox symptoms (a lot of acne, rarely I have that many all together). So I figure this is not pushing out and just clogging things out. I increase to 37.5mg and the acne disappear practically overnight, so in there was a clue. I can use successfully mag oil for acne but I did tried different doses of iodine to see if there was a hint without the mag oil. First I was not sure what route to take: increase or decrease. I was doing fine in 12.5 regarding to my acne but my energy was not as I'm used to. So I decide to increase to 37.5. I'm Happy I did. Although, the happiness didn't last probably 2 months. I was painting on daily basis a black spot that suddenly showed off in my face. I was able to monitor the absorption of it. All of the sudden the iodine didn't got absorbed. It stayed there like a sticker, I could peel it off. I decided to test. I was shocked to see the result. I was sure the iodine was doing good to my energy, but how that can happen when I was excreting all of it? the truth, I was not fully energetic but the idea that iodine was helping me probably had some beneficial psychological effect. I didn't know my symporters were weak and became defective. Neither that I have that huge bromide excretion. Another clue I had was my dreams were very worrying. I found out low vit B can be the culprit.. Getting this bromide/halides out at the same time balancing my minerals and vitamins are priority now. Reading this forum somebody mention that they got different results with different vit C. Reading Optimox and Dr. Brownsteins' Iodine book again and again affronted the dilemma of increasing or decreasing.... Why to increase if there is not retention? It is a loop and too many toxins to get rid off, not enough iodine neither the right for me supplements. I have to heal symporters, retain and organificar iodine. I didn't feel any problem with the 50mg I had for the test. I figure my case needs serious orthosuplementation if I want my real energy back and getting those toxins out. I moved right away to 75mg, slow released vit C and ATP cofactors. I had to wait like a week for the ATP cofactors to arrive so I'm able to say that my worrying dreams went away with the vit B,. Interesting this B2 B3 together iodine are important for energy production. Maybe that's how my body started to telling me that the symporters will stop if I will not supply the right amount of B or iodine. I've been for 3months with this dose and back again queen of the mountain I can run uphill 300m difference elevation with a 18% slope, easy as a cake. I was getting lazy before. There might be a lot of bromide around me..... I can help my sister better also. She has been low in B for long time and too many toxins.http://www.optimox.com/pics/Iodine/IOD-20/IOD_20.htm (that is a starting point)From: cwahlin444 <cwahlin444@...>iodine Sent: Fri, June 11, 2010 3:00:47 PMSubject: Re: Test Results - looking for opinions Hi - I've been thinking about this. Guest guest
Hi , I felt fine with the 50 mg for one day. I don't start getting headaches until I'm on day 2 or 3 of the 37.5 mg dose. The first time that happened, I drank celtic sea salt in water and within an hour a very bad headache was pretty much completely gone. Thank you for all the information you shared. It's very helpful. It looks like the direction I should go now is to increase my vit C and stay with the celtic sea salt and I'll play with the 37.5 and 50 mg of ioderol. I can't say that it is a complete waste if I'm excreting so much because according to the test, it must be doing some good at getting rid of the bromide, although I'm still not sure how that happened. I ingested 50 mg Iodine Excreted 50 mg Iodine Excreted 37.5 mg bromide. I guess it's doing some good, right? I was hoping Hakala Lab person would have had suggestions for what to do next given my test results, but nope, just a Thank you and have a nice day, good bye, so thank you for helping me figure out what to do with these results. And I too am having better energy, which I enjoy. I am also doing other cleanses with gallbladder and liver, so I know some days I'm probably cleansing to the point of headaches. My thyroid nodule still is stubbornly big though. I was hoping that it would have shrunk by now as it did two years ago, but again, I'll add the vit C. I do take a great deal of vit B's for adrenals. Guest guest
Hakala Labs is not a doctor so they really can't "prescribe" a protocol. They can explain what their lab tests mean. You excreted a lot of bromide so that iodine amount excreted is more than likely false due to blocked receptors. What else are you taking with Iodine and "B's"? Selenium? Magnesium? Vit C?
