Guest guest
, Depakote did not do anything for my daughter either. She was on it for almost a year. Lithium on the other hand has saved her life (mentally). I was terrified to put her on that and all the blood work and level taking that goes with it. Honestly, with all the drugs she has been on this has been the less for side effects and NO behavioral side effects (yeah)!!!! Our dr. is constantly doing blood levels. We use Emla Cream which is a numbing cream to put on her arm prior the blood draw. There is a serious concern with Lithium with toxicity - so you watch the salt intake, hot days - lots of fluids, shaky hands, walking as if their drunk etc. Only once was she at toxic level and I knew right away because she kept going to bathroom and her hands were trembling. We just dropped her dose did another level and got the correct range going and here we are. But believe me I thought I was going to have a nervous breakdown putting her on Lithium. Good luck, in PA No Change Hello Everyone, I wrote quite awhile back that my son's Psychiatrist was looking into my son's MRI that was taken years ago to see if maybe the problems that showed up were maybe why he is so resistant to all the medications we have tried. He put my son on Depikote and it did nothing for him to releif the depression. We are still waiting to hear about what the neuroligist in the psychology department has to say about the MRI. His depression right now is very dominant and his OCD is mild compared to it. So when we went into the Doc's office we told him how bad the last 3 weeks have been and he said lets try lithium. I know what this drug is and it frightened me but in the back of my mind I wonder if he is bipolar or manic along with the OCD. I have stopped thinking, oh this one will be the one. I want to find a well known Nuerologist in the US that is familiar with these disorders and see if he or she can help us. Does anyone know where I can look for one that is top notch and an expert in this field. I won't stop til I get some answers, there has got to be a reason why he is staying so depressed and not one drug is working and his OCD is still present and he cannot read, work or do anything except lay around which has him so angry cause he wants to get on with his life. If anyone knows of someone please let me know. Thanks for listening, its been a long day here. You may subscribe to the OCD-L by emailing listserv@... . Guest guest
, I live off track. The structured eating helps a lot. But I'm still too sedentary. I think having routines will help because I wait too long in the mornings to get ready for the day. I can't go for a walk because my hair is sticking up and I'm schlepping in my robe. Also, hauling boxes of clutter out of the apartment has to burn some calories, right? KimB > Kim a great goal. I follow flylady when I can. Guest guest
the BO goes away after a short while--you are just getting rid of bad stuff and that's what you want. gracia B wrote: > > > When I tried 75 mg of iodoral my perspiration became very foul > smelling.
