Guest guest
"Over the last 6 months I had been getting the most severe stomach pains I have ever experienced. ( I am on Morphine as needed ) I tried all the usual remedies and finally after testing, ultrasound, etc. they discovered my gall bladder is....well frankly... fucked.Evidently it is not a severe operation but I am wondering if any of you fellows on here have had experience with gall bladders, having them out, living without one. Any side effects, problems etc."Luke,The gallbladder is commonly removed by laparoscope, these days. It's a very small incision, a few pokes, and it's out in a pickle jar. The pain is excruciating from gallbladder disease, so just get it taken care of. Millions of people live without gallbladders, and it's not a particular issue.Naturopathic therapy will help you savor the pain for a bit longer, if you wish.Get it done.JB

Guest guest
Hi Luke, when I was on high dose of Norvir I had the same problem, eventually I had surgery, with my gall bladder removed it was the end of that. Diet did not improve my condition as it was cause by medications. And anti acid will only lp to a point. My suggestion, get the thing out. I did it with micro surgery and there was virtually no pain, they made 5 small incision and slide it out through a small hole, after 5 days i was as good as new. Not having a gall bladder made no impact was so ever, the bile (stomach acid) is dropped directly in to the stomach vs getting collect in the bladder, and with that was the end of stomach acidity. I am told now they can actually clear the gallbladder with laser by burning out the stones, no need for surgery. Hope this help Mark B --- ML <coolhndluke2000@...> wrote: > Over the last 6 months I had been getting the most > severe stomach pains I have ever experienced. Guest guest
Hi Luke sorry to hear you are going through this. I went through it in March. I don't know how you have endured the pain for 6 months I couldn't take it for 7 hours. I had the complication of a gall stone traveling to the pancreas and blocking the duct which can become serious I was told. I did have my gall bladder removed through laparoscopy after waiting a week with nothing but IV fluids so the the inflammation of my pancreas subsided. Recovery was a breeze and I was home in two days. No problems with eating anything that I used to, the greasy cheese pizza probably wasn't the wisest choice for the first night home. After nearly two weeks nothing but jello and something they passed off as beef broth I couldn't help myself. I paid for it a little with a stomach ache but no problems since. The sorest of the five incisions was the one they pulled the gall bladder through but that was gone within the week. I found some good info at Wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gall_stones#Pigment_stonesGood Luck to ya, feel free to ask any other questions Ned

Guest guest
Hi ML, I had my gall bladder removed in Augsust of 2005. Some get it done laporoscopically, I had mine done with full surgery (doc wanted to also do exploratory surgery for another diagnosis). I can tell you that, for me, it was very painful having full surgery. Other friends I've talked to have had the bladder removed laporoscopically and was ok in a week or two; I was ok after a month, but was sore for months afterwards. I also experienced projectile vomiting of bile after it was removed, which the RNs didn't warn me about, so I freaked out when it first happened (no body warnings either). I'm not trying to scare you, but it can be a serious procedure, and with full surgery, an extremely painful one. Discuss all possibilities with your GI doc, and what to expect, and what after-effects could happen. Also, after my surgery for gallbladder, the scar tissue under the site went into my intestinal area and I then got a 99% blockage of an intestine, causing surgery #2 in Dec of '05. Yes, the scar tissue was literally strangling an intestine. Ask doc if you can get a "screen" to be placed under the area where the gallbladder will be removed. The mesh screen keeps scar tissue from going to deep into the gut area, which can create complications later on. If I had that, I'd probably not have had my intestinal surgery. Boring. Any info would be highly appreciated. Cheers, Luke. Building a website is a piece of cake. Small Business gives you all the tools to get online. SEIZE THE DAY! Guest guest
I have recently been diagnosed with a benign growth (polyp?) in my gall bladder, and as I am currently being investigated by Dr P for possible hypothyroidism I wondered if anyone else had the same or is there no possible connection?
