It is hoped that this will help to combat the spread of the disease, as well as to raise awareness against socio-cultural stigma towards people living with HIV/AIDS and protect them from associated human rights violations. To this end, UNESCO, with the help of IFMSA has developed a guideline manual entitled " Youth to Youth " to aid youth organizations involved in HIV/AIDS prevention, promotion and advocacy campaigns. The manual is based on the international guidelines on Human Rights and HIV/AIDS and is intended to serve as a tool in the development and initiation of appropriate youth activities. The purpose of this workshop is multifaceted. Primarily, it aims to train participants on how to use the " Youth to Youth " manual effectively, and thus to empower them to initiate youth activities around HIV/AIDS and Human Rights in their own communities. It is also hoped that the workshop will equip participants with the necessary skills to ensure that they, as future community leaders, will advocate the care of people living with HIV/AIDS in an ethical, judicious and most appropriate manner. The training workshop will train 40 participants, with the participants being young, dynamic youth leaders from regional countries. About 10 Asian countries will be included, with each country being represented by 4 participants. The workshop will last 5 days, during which time participants will receive intensive training on skills and capacity building and problem-solving with regards to the psychosocial and cultural aspect of the connection between HIV and Human Rights. The workshop will take place between 3rd November and 9th November 2001 inclusive. It will take place at Grand Hotel Preanger, Bandung which is situated right in the heart of historic Bandung. This five star hotel is within walking distance to most of the business and financial district and close to shopping center. It is just 10 minutes by car from the airport or the train station. Designed in the Indische Empire style, it opened on Jl. Grooten Postweg (now Jl. Asia Afrika) in the 1920s and gained its international reputation. Later, it was redecorated with new art deco flourishes, and Today's Grand Hotel Preanger reflects a pleasant blending of deco design and Sundanese touches. Bandung, City of Flowers, is the provincial capital of West Java and Indonesia' s third largest city. Host to the historic Asia Africa conference in 1955, Bandung is now a center of higher education, commerce and aircraft industry which despite its modern amenities still retains much of its colonial era charm.
