Guest guest
I've been trying for days to figure out what tests I want from healthcheckusa.com. I want TSH, free T3 and free T4 for starters, right? What about reverse T3? And what about the antibody testing? The antibody testing requires a physician to be involved for ordering the test and receiving results. Would a chiropractor be able to assist on this level? I asked for help on this November 11th where I included a recap of my history/situation. Jana
Guest guest
Please go to Life Extension's website here: http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/ItemLC304131/Thyroid-Panel-TSH-T4-Free-T4-Free-T3-Blood-Test.html They have a thyroid testing panel for $100 for non-members, $75 for members (I'm a member and I highly recommend them). They have drs. who will call you with your blood lab results and recommend what supplements you should take and/or what to recommend to your doctor. More info is here: Also, don't forget Shomon's books - she has all of this info in her thyroid books (Living with Hypothryoidism?). Reverse T3: This test is useful in evaluating thyroid function and metabolism, and to evaluate euthyroid patients with low T3 concentrations. (source: LEF) Finally....antibody test - no dr. referral is required - can get it at LEF also: http://search.lef.org/cgi-src-bin/MsmGo.exe?grab_id=0 & page_id=1659 & query=thyroid%20antibody%20test & hiword=ANTIBODIES%20ANTIBODYBASED%20TESTA%20TESTABLE%20TESTE%20TESTED%20TESTER%20TESTERS%20TESTES%20TESTING%20TESTIS%20TESTO%20TESTOS%20TESTS%20THYROIDAL%20THYROIDIN%20THYROIDS%20antibody%20test%20thyroid%20 I have health insurance so I check with LEF what I should test for and then request it from my dr (or just mark the sheets myself). Guest guest
Dear Sharon, I've loaded up a shopping cart at lef.org with tests I want done, and I wonder if you might know which of these two antibody tests I should get? I called the tollfree number for help from lef, but I'm not terribly instilled with confidence that the person I spoke to was doing anything more than reading a paragraph that didn't make much sense to either one of us. They have an antithyroglobulin test at http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/ItemLC006692/Thyroid-Antibody-Profile-Bl\ ood-Test.html and a thyroid peroxidase antibody test at http://www.lef.org/Vitamins-Supplements/ItemLC006676/Thyroid-Peroxidase-Antibody\ -Blood-Test.html Steph says to get a TPO Ab and Tg Ab, but I'm not sure what the abbreviations stand for, unless they're the two tests I've identified above. They sound so similar, it's not clear if I need just one or both. Can you help me figure this out? Thanks.
