> What would be a good breakfast food to eat? I have had symptoms of

low blood sugar for sometime would feel quite weak and hungry and

shaky all at once! I had started to put that down to adrenals. I

think once I get a diet sorted and start eating properly I will feel

better

Hi

I have something like a boiled egg with 1 1/2 ryvitas, plus wholemilk

cottage cheese (not low fat) and some almond butter. You can also do

eggs with tomatoes and mushrooms plus the ryvita or oatcakes. Humous

is another alternative and occasional good peanut butter would also

be ok.

BTW Its ok to have an egg a day, they have proved however many eggs

you eat it doesn't affect your cholesterol which is mainly made by

your liver.

Some people do well with porridge but its very individual. It spikes

my blood sugar badly, far too much carb for me. The same goes for

protein shakes, I cannot tolerate them first thing whereas other

people do fine.

It is very much a question of trial and error and it would help to

buy a blood sugar monitor so you can see the effect of what you have

eaten can have on your blood sugar. That is how I found out that

just a small amount of oats with a tiny bit of dried fruit spiked my

blood sugar badly.

Its a good idea to have a mid-morning top-up, something like an

oatcake with almond butter or some good cheese is lovely too. Also

don't foget that caffeine can also spike some people's blood sugar as

if they had eaten sugar.

I am positive you can feel a whole lot better with a lower carb way

of eating but you will also need to get your thyroid improved as you

know. In the first week or so of eating lower carb you might feel

the need for extra snacks and if you are really weak and shaky its

fine to have say half an apple, just make sure you have some good

protein with it and eat a regular meal not too long after.
