I have just opened my local newspaper and see:

NEW HORMONE CLINIC AT PAH

A new clinic at Harlow's Princess andra Hospital (PAH) is treating people with hormone related problems.

The new specialist endocrinology unit will help patients with conditions such as adrenal and thyroid diseases, lipid disorders and menopause.

Jenni Wallace, nurse practitioner for endocrinology services said: "Some of the tests we carry out can be quite lengthy and complex and we prefer to put people at ease by talking through the details prior to the tests. By doing them in advance of the patient seeing our clinical team, it gives our doctors more time to assess the test results, and they can then focus on advising patients on treatment options"

The clinic takes place on the first and third Friday of each month and patients are referred by their consultants.

I wonder whether I should feel hopeful or not. I wonder whether the doctor in charge will be the one I am seeing now - or the one who I saw previously who told me he prescribed T3 only for patients from outside the area who were already being prescribed it presumably by an NHS consultant because he did not care whether I was already being prescribed it by a private doctor. If they are going to follow the guidelines they may as well save the expense of the thyroid part of it and just get one of the cleaners to set up a stall outside taking people's TSH and dispensing thyroxine only.
