When should you see an endocrinologist?

Now I have my adrenal stress and thyroid hormone results I wonder if I should

ask my GP if he can refer me to an endocrinologst.

I am not sure how severe the test results have to be before you need to go and

see an 'expert' or whether its still ok just to stay with your GP.

Any advise would be very welcome.
