Guest guest
At such a low reading, taking 200 mcgs Selenium dialy with a meal may well have a good chance of bringing them down. I must admit though to not knowing too much about the chemistry of all this - perhaps Bob might be able to help you here. luv - Sheila A question to the group..if tsh is 2.2, FT4 16.9 and but antibodiesare slightly raised..range 0 -9 mine came up as 34.Would selenium be enought to get antibodies back in range..or do youthink thyroid medication is necessary. I have read a trial ofselenium for 6 months brings antibodies right down. Many thanks,Simone No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG - http://www.avg.com Version: 8.0.169 / Virus Database: 270.6.21/1676 - Release Date: 17/09/2008 09:
Guest guest
Many hypothyroid sufferers have a good bowel action - my husband in particular, but he is hypothyroid and on 3 grains of Armour - but even before he started medication, he never had a problem with his bowels, and neither did I for that matter. In the same way that not everybody suffers from all the symptoms of hypothyroidism - we have some, we don't have others, and others have different symptoms to ourselves. Have you taken your basal temperature for at least 4 to 5 mornings on waking before you get out of bed? If not, I would recommend you do this and see whether these are telling a story or not - if you find your temperature is 98.6 - then that is normal and would not indicate you have a thyroid problem, but if it is 97.8 (or much less) then this is indicative your metabolism is low. Luv - Sheila Hello all. Question to the group. I wondered is it possible to be slightly hypo (no medication) even if you have a bowel movement every morning before breakfast..I would think this would indicate a metabolism working well?? Curious. Guest guest
> > Hi Sheila, Thanks for the response. I am curious though, my sisters temperature in the morning 2/3 days after her period is 36.2 and her thyroid function is good, tsh 1.3. A friend of mine too has bmt 36.3 few days after menstruation and her thyroid is good. Do you the the temperature guage is accurate. Another friend of mine at bmt of 35.9 sometimes and again she has no thyroid problem. Her bloods are well within range. Could low bmt maybe also be an indicator of stress and other things and maybe not only thyroid. Curious?? Many thanks, Luv, Simone

Many thanks, Hi Simone I'm curious too. I have a ridiculously low basal temperature despite being assured by Dr P that my thyroid has/is sorting itself out, although I do still have some adrenal issues. My BMT hasn't budged one iota in the last two years, not a jot. I did look into it at one time but have forgotten most of what I read but there are definitely other causes. Dr Lowe says very interestingly in one of his responses to someone's question that there might even be a genetic tendency to a low BMT. http://www.drlowe.com/QandA/askdrlow....htm#November% x

Guest guest
Yes I believe that is possible, I am hypoT and before diagnosis I never suffered any bowel problems or constipation but had a TSH of 8, we dont all get the same symptoms, Hello all. Question to the group. I wondered is it possible to beslightly hypo (no medication) even if you have a bowel movement everymorning before breakfast..I would think this would indicate ametabolism working well??Curious.Simone
Guest guest
It is exactly because there is a stereotypical picture of a low thyroid sufferer as being fat and constipated that it has taken me nearly 20 years to discover what is wrong with me. However, if you have adrenal problems, or dysbiosis, (or various other conditions), you might well have the opposite problem yet still be low thyroid. Miriam > Hello all. Question to the group. Guest guest
Hi Simone, What are your symptoms or signs? I've read through all your posts and can't find anywhere where you describe how you actually feel...... Most people describe their own symptoms alongside their test results and this gives a better insight for others, who may empathise and be able to offer advice. Lyndsay > > Hello all. Guest guest
Hi, Sorry lots of questions..... Have you spoken to your GP about your symptoms? Was he/she sympathetic? When did you first think your thyroid might be the problem? Have you had anxiety in the past? What med's do you take? I bought a mercury one from a local chemist, but it was of the type of being more similar to the "mercury type" safe ones, and so takes a lot longer to work in the mouth. Both of the above look more like the old mercury ones which work so much quicker, but I have not bought from either of them.. Guest guest
If you have been diagnosed with hypothyroidism because your body was not making the thyroid hormones it needs to make it function, then there is only thyroid replacement that will work. Nothing else will give you the thyroid hormones you are not making. I think whatever has happened to her is either temporary and her hypothyroidism will return, or she wasn't suffering with hypothyroidism in the first place. Probably getting paid to advertise these great big green tubs of unprocessed herbs. Luv - Cynical Sheila - Dr Schulze's Superfood. Great big green tubs of unprocessed herbs (unlike the pills you get from Boots). This has lots of iodine in it, essential for thyroid function. - Biocare's TH207 supplement - 3 pounds of fresh raw vegetables a day (which I rapidly changed to a double shot of wheatgrass - same effect, less hassle) - Exercise. My favourite is properly executed power plating which has completely changed my body. DON'T TRY UNSUPERVISED IN THE GYM. I'm a Core London fan...
