Guest guest
Goodness , you sound like someone who needs a hug! ((())) That certainly is alot for one person to handle. I'm praying for you. Anne -- New/Intro HII don't even know where to start.I have been searching for a long time for answers...I knew there was something wrong but, had never heard of Aspergers or SID.My name is , Single mom of three,Ashlee 13, Katelynn(the one i suspect has aspergers, she also has Carcinoid Cancer and Carcinoid syndrome, ectopic cushings(caused-by tumor and causes mood swings, etc.,) has been diagnosed with ADHD, and possible SID, initially was thought ODD but, someone told me if she were truly ODD she would be that way ALL the time.)and little Zack man who is 4.5 and sadly gets the worst of Katelynns behavior problems(she is constantly picking on him, tripping him , flicking him, etc etc etc calling him names, etc., yet he adores her)I am so exhausted I don't even know where to begin, how do I find a good doctor to diagnose i her...I feel like i am going insane she has all the characteristics of ODD/ADHD behavior yet shes not like that if someone keeps her(including me) by herself...shes then a complete angel yet still can't handle too much stimuli(sp?) She has a RARE adult cancer and the secondary disease caused by the cancer.I have spent the last 4 yrs bouncing all over from doc to doc trying to find help and researching everything i can as there is no cure(fortunately it is slow growing)ALso, do any of the kids with this sleepwalk?Katelynn has been since she could walk and its getting worse...(it can also be caused by many other things I know, but, just curious)What about sleep problems? Loud talking? Rages? She has all the social problems, inappropriate behaviors, expressions, etc) etc I can remember as an infant she was so content to play by herself and was so absorbed in what she was doing..yet take her to the store, a resturant, etc., and she was a completely different child, screaming, throwing fits etc.,I am so tiredShe has all the signs i read about...my mom watched the Jane pAuley show today and saw this and said"OMG, thats Katelynn"They are putting her in theraputic foster care this week forawhile as I just can't handle all of this, especially with the sleepwalking getting worse(the other night she was up and down all night long ,most of the time I can just lead her back to bed...but, I get no sleep and I am so afraid to sleep soundly anymore...once already when we were out of town for scans(cancer) i got a call form the hotel lobby she had wandered down there in her sleep and I never heard her...she wa sin the hospital for a week last month and everynight but one they foudn her wandering the halls...then they put her in temp. placement and she managed to slip out without them noticing until the back door alarm went off and they couldn't find her...she was found 16 blocks away by the police about 2 hrs later) and haven't been able to work the last two yrs.I need to get on my feet and I need to find answers for herI love her so much and also need to know a few things i can do at home now to help with the meltdowns, and her other behavior...I am sorry for the long post...I just don't know if i can make it until we can figure out how to get her diagnosed (the right one for a change!:)Thank you for letting me ventSIncerelywww.caringbridge.org/nc/katelynntreakle

Guest guest
Hi Sue, Welcome - I am like Eileen somewhat, I have been playing with the same few pounds over and over again. My goal at Thanksgiving time was to stay "on track" and at least maintain through the holidays, if nothing further comes off. Good luck on your program and looking forward to getting to know you better.
Guest guest
Welcome to the group! I know how you feel about feeling like one person inside and looking like another outside. I'm in the same boat! And every year I say the same thing that you do " this year I will lose weight " ... it hasn't happened so far! I don't have any kids (yet) but I am currently a " house wife " so I can relate to your situation a little. I've gained 10 pounds (on top of all the extra weight I already had!) since I've stopped working 6 months ago. For me staying home has it's pros and cons when it comes to weight loss. A plus side is that it's easier to get in a workout when you don't have to fit it in around a work schedule! Anyway, good luck with your weight loss goals and whenever you need support remember this group and take advantage of it! It's really helped me so far! -moonmayden
Guest guest
hi tamara welcome,i get netflix myself. i rather enjoy it b/c i would have wasted so much money on stuff i didn't like at all but sometimes it gets me into trouble b/c i want most of the stuff i am trying LOL. i just wished they had cathe and tracey stahle b/c i love advanced stuff but would hate to spend that amount of money on dvds i hate. kassia ldy_solana's domain Too many people spend money they haven't earned to buy things they don’t want to impress people they don’t like.-Will __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Tamara welcome to the club, I also get netflixs and I love it. I also love the advanced stuff and wish Cathe dvd's were on there. I found that tae bo and other kick boxing workouts do wonders for your tummy but I huge part of getting your abs in shape is cardio. Also strenght traing. I started working out about 5 yrs ago and for the first yr I only did cardio and never really saw results. One day I saw a book called lift weights to lose weight by Kathy so I bought it and I started to see results quickly. That was 5yrs and 30lbs ago and I never went back. So keep it up! Sherry P.S. If you get netflixs I would recomend Jari Loves dvd's She is very tuff but you can lift lighter weights until you get stronger. > > Hi Everybody, > > I am Tamara. Guest guest
Welcome, Tamara! I haven't yet signed up for netflix, but I plan to soon since I was spending too much money on exercise DVDs that I didn't really get much use out of. I figure netflix is a great way to try before buying and then only buy the " must haves " If you have a Ross Dress for Less store or a TJ Maxx nearby you can also check them out for well priced exercise DVDs - they often carry some popular and recent ones for $3.99-$6.99 - a bargain! That Pilates workout that you mentioned sounds good! Welcome! Looking forward to hearing more about your workouts! Donna H --- Tamara Marchi wrote: > Hi Everybody, > > I am Tamara. Guest guest
Thanks for the welcome everyone. I have ordered a couple more dvds in the last week. When someone posts a positive review, I go over to amazon and see if it is for sale used. I picked up a couple dvds for a buck (plus s & h) that way. And since I like my Savasa Pilates dvd I ran back to my local Hibbet Sports to by the Savasa Pilates Challenge dvd, while they are on clearance. I wish I had a Ross! I'll have to look for one the next time I am in a city. Thanks, Tamara
Guest guest
Hi Tamara!! I saw this a while back but haven't had time to wave and reply until now! You sound like a very dedicated exerciser! I'm looking forward to hearing about your workouts! I'm a mom to a 9 year old boy and a newly turned 6 year old girl who are both home from school today (end of marking period day off) and are fighting constantly. They don't normally fight much at all but this is driving me nuts! Normally they leave for school at 8:20 and I'm already dressed in workout clothes so I workout as soon as they leave then go about the rest of my day. Today, since they're home I slept in and my dad and step-mother came over to take us out to lunch so I haven't had time for a workout yet. I could right now instead of sitting on the couch but I have to help DS with homework soon then we've got a bonfire with Miriam's Brownie troop (I'm a co-leader) this evening so... the housework max I did this morning will stand in for my workout today. I am also a netflix subscriber and that's how I try out new workouts that I hear about in this group! As for recommendations, for non dancey cardio (requiring little or no coordination) Sansone Walk Away the Pounds videos are excellent! She makes them for very beginner through more advanced and you can easily put as much or as little into the workouts as you want, depending on how you're feeling that day. My favorites right now are her Walk Slim videos which combine fast walking with intervals of jogging (2 of the videos do anyway). For toning, I like 10 Minute Solution Target Toning for Beginners as a good start. There are 5 workouts, each 10 minutes long that hit different areas of your body (I think the 5th is a stretching workout). They are easy to follow and easy to modify up or down as needed too. I also like 15 Minute Workouts for Dummies. That one has an upper body, two different lower body (I think one is for thighs and the other for buns) and an abs workout, each 15 minutes long. When you're ready for more challenge, Tamilee Webb's I Want That Body also has workouts for various body parts (arms, abs, buns and thighs I think) and each body part has 2 workouts (each 15 minutes long). The 2nd workout is always tougher than the 1st. Those are the ones I started with anyway and I still really like them. I'm glad you decided to join the group and look forward to hearing more from you soon! new/intro Hi Everybody,I am Tamara. I am 35 years old and have recently discovered exercising with dvds. I am thin but not terribly fit. After a vacation, I noticed I had put on a few pounds and felt like, at my age, I could no longer take my weight and good health for granted and it was time to start earning it or turn into my mother, ha ha. After 3 kids I thought I was doomed to be a jelly belly forever, but I have seen major improvements in my abs in just 2 weeks. It is very motivating. I can also see how much my balance and coordination has improved. It's great. I got bored with the Savasa dvd after a while and ordered a Body Wisdom Complete Pilates for Weight Loss dvd from amazon. I find it to be a little annoying, but the workout seems ok. I want to keep on this track of getting my abs in shape, but I would probably benefit from some more cardio work and weights too. Guest guest
Hi , Thanks for the welcome and thanks especially for the recommendations. I picked up another Firm DVD for a buck on Amazon, but it has as much choreography as the dance dvd I already had. Plus I need a fancy step for it. I am just going to build one. I can eventually get all those dance moves, but it takes me several sessions of standing there staring like an idiot before it starts to click. I'll give a try to some of the less dancey workouts you suggested. Tamara
Guest guest
Hello all; I just joined up, so I thought I would say hello. I am interested in getting some Iodine supplements, but I'm confused which form I should try. About me: I have Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (my last scan showed only very minor levels left now) and I take Bio-HRT. The GYN who prescribes my bio's told me my Iodine levels were low a year and a half ago. I've been trying to get them up again using kelp, but a skin test still shows me low. I'd also like to lose some weight-since chemo in 2006 my weight has shot up. So now I'd like to try Iodine. How do I decide if I should take Lugols or Iodoral, or something else? I'm reading the Files, Links, Database info, etc. but it's all very confusing to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Cyndi in northern California
Guest guest
My personal preference is Iodoral. Mainly because it is easy to take and I don't have to deal with the taste of Lugols. Lugol's irritates the stomach of many and Iodoral is formulated with a silica that allows it to be carried to the small intestine before breaking down and being absorbed. There are only two forms that I would consider with a cancer dx and that is the pill form of lugols (Iodoral) and Lugols (liquid). I would start on at least 25 mgs of Iodoral - my preference is 50 mgs. Add 2,000 mgs Vit C, Celtic Salt - check out my protocol info on www.naturalthyroidchoices.com New/Intro Hello all;I just joined up, so I thought I would say hello. Guest guest
If taking 25mg iodoral a day, can this be taken all at once in the morning? Also, can iodine cause sleeplessness if you are sensitive to it? Guest guest
Yes you can take it all at once. I take 100 mgs with breakfast. It can cause you to stay awake if taken too late in the day. Guest guest
- I recently learned about Iosol, another iodine supplement. I read this can actually be taken before bed, and helps relax you. I don't know, because I've never taken it. I wonder if there is a certain situation where on might choose Iosol over iodoral? Thanks,
Guest guest
This is what Iosol is: Iosol1 fl. oz. (30 ml) Item Catalog Number: 16422 Iosol provides the essential iodine mineral which has been proportioned by a special process making a water soluble Iodine compound. Supplement Facts Serving Size 1 tsp Iosol solution (prepared as directed) Amount Per Serving Iodine 153 mcg Other ingredients: glycerine (vegetarian), iodine, ammonium iodine. Lugol's Iodine is Iodine and Iodide. Each drop is 6.25 milligrams of this combo. As you can see above this product is 153 micrograms of only iodine. Totally different product and too weak to do any good. Re: New/Intro -I recently learned about Iosol, another iodine supplement.I read this can actually be taken before bed, and helps relax you.
