Guest guest
Funds are exchanged via email accounts. You will have to sign-up and give an email, where you will be notified when someone pays you. You then need to give your bank account # to where you want the funds deposited, this is at sign-up too. Thru Paypal you can accept checks and international accts. if you sign up for their Business service. There's some fees involved but much lower than if you had a merchant account. If you want, you can just stay with their free service. In both instances, they still charge you a minimal service fee. belle paypal > How does paypal work? I keep seeing this mentioned for sales. Guest guest
It is great. Some sites have it built in so that when you say you want to use Paypal it just guides you to that page. I dont have a clue how they get their money (the payee) but I do know that I am signed up with them, and unless I specify otherwise they take it out of my checking account via debit Visa. It is secure, and for you to pay with it is free, but the company who is being paid, they may have big bucks for the priviledge of being paid in this manner. If you want to sign up, you just go to www.paypal.com and it will give you a form to fill out on the computer and you are in, they will send you a confirmation soon and a password for getting in. and if you pay somone with it, all they really need to have is an email address. If it is a business, you dont list their last name, but if an individual you need to list their last name. It takes 4-5 days for a transaction to clear. Some people will go ahead and mail you your stuff before it clears and some wont. Pretty much I would say that if Paypal accepts your transaction it lets the payee know you are serious about the transaction. I love it; I use it all the time (too much as a matter of fact). I am soap poor and lotion poor and fo and eo poor! Now you can put money into your Paypal account and it earns interest, but I just let it come out of my checking account. Guest guest
This was on Google; SAN FRANCISCO (Reuters) - PayPal, eBay Inc.'s (EBAY.O: Quote, Profile, Research) online payment service, has had intermittent glitches in its system since late last week and is working to fix the problems with payment processing, log-ins and new account creation, the company said on Monday. " We are working furiously. ... We have all resources dedicated to getting it fixed as soon as possible, " PayPal spokeswoman Pires told Reuters. Pires said the problem appeared to be related to a coding update late on Thursday. " We haven't found the ultimate cause, " she added. It was not immediately clear how widespread the problems were, although eBay's message boards were filled with postings about the glitches. Bokan, of West Charlton, New York, told Reuters PayPal usually processes 5 to 10 payments a day on orders from his fly-fishing equipment Web site flyshack.com. Bokan, who said he can see payment requests being sent to PayPal, said no payments came through on Friday, less than half than normal were processed over the weekend and just one was done on Monday. © Reuters 2004. . Guest guest
Monday, October 11, 2004 · Last updated 4:51 p.m. PT Glitch disrupts eBay's PayPal service THE ASSOCIATED PRESS SAN JOSE, Calif. -- Repairs were underway Monday at PayPal as the widely used online payment service struggled to get customers back on track after several days of " intermittent " outages. Users of the eBay Inc.-owned company began experiencing some glitches on Friday after a monthly upgrade of PayPal's software systems, said eBay spokeswoman Pires. The problems seemed to subside over the weekend but then recurred Monday, she said. It is unclear how many of PayPal users were affected. Pires said some users were able to access PayPal while others were not. PayPal is a common method of payment for buyers on eBay and is gaining in popularity among customers of other online retailers as well as in money transactions between individuals in the off-line world. The payment service has more than 50 million user accounts worldwide. It processed almost 78 million transactions worth $4.4 billion in payments during the second quarter, a 53 percent increase from the same period a year earlier. Pires could not estimate when the service would return to normal. " We're working to get it fixed as soon as possible, " she said. Just found this. Hope it helps.
