The RCP joined forces with European health organisations in a successful lobby of Members of the European Parliament to defeat a proposed amendment calling for health services to be reintroduced into the EU Services Directive.

We believe that to treat health services like any other service within the scope of the Directive would subject them to the vagaries of the EU Single Market and would prioritise economic goals over social protection, social cohesion and social justice.
