Getting Lugol's in France

Here is the result of my attempt to stock up on 1% Lugol's:

Usual pharmacist in next village will only give in 60 ml because " that is the

limit per month " 11€

Went to first local town and was offered 300 ml in the first pharmacy I went

into, picked it up 4 days later with no problems.  15€  Said I could come

back in a month for a re-fill. Left a false name and paid in cash.  Made a

supreme effort not to let the surprise and relief show on my face.

Went to another local town :

1st pharmacy refused to give it to me because it had iodine in it.

2nd pharmacy refused to give it to me because it had iodine in it (showed me a

book where it was written down!)

3rd pharmacy didn't have any but suggested that I went to another one in the

centre of town where they will make the stuff to order.  Very helpful lady. 

Will give them a call.

Went to another local town :

1st pharmacy - Phamacist didn't know what Lugol's solution was. (Will not be

going back there, even at death's door!)

2nd pharmacy - Nice lady said she did not have the necessary other wise she

would have made me some and that I should try another pharmacy in the centre of

town.

3rd pharmacy - Ordered 300 ml with minimal resistance.  Can go and pick it up

on Saturday morning.  Was given a free pipette for dosing my drops by very

helpful lady pharmacist. Didn't leave my name and will pay in cash.  Again had

problems masking my surprise/relief but I think I managed it.

I think the only rule about buying Lugol's is that there is no rule!  Or

nobody knows what it is.  Anyway perseverance seems to pay.  However, I think

that the 2 300 ml bottles come from the same place so I avoid leaving my name in

case some bright spark in the laboratory sees my very memorable name twice and

starts asking questions.
